August 19, 200421 yr I have played CS:Source, and I have wept over its beauty, its perfection, its same immature egotistical players, and its implications for HL2 as a whole. Despite the limited palette and extent of complexity in De_Dust I can tell that the graphics, the physics., and even the sound give Doom3 a run for its money, and i own Doom 3. My only gripes are: as always the CS players all deserve a swift kick in the gonads, a number of possible game killing bugs, and as usual Steam. Steam is such a revolutionary, awesome idea, and yet 2 years since i got in on the beta and nothing at all has changed. Hopefully once HL2 is done (in the year 2099) they will devote some time to completely redoing Steam and figuring out what is wrong with it.PSoff topic, but today i realized that Doom3 is a shameless rip off of HL. Everything in doom 3 has an hl counterpart, even the plot is almost exactly the same. They both make use of the same types of scripted events too, and they even have the same level progression and pacing, not to mention locale (black mesa/UAC lab, Hell/Xen, must escape/stop evil, G-man/Swann). Id is shameless in its copycatting. Oh well, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery
August 19, 200421 yr he's talking about Doom 3 not Doom So it's more likely Doom 3 is "copying" HL than continuing where it started, 5 years before HL came out? The plot for Doom 3 isn't much different than Doom or Doom 2. So maybe HL was a shameless ripoff of Doom, eh?

Doom and Doom 2, although it just told us the story in text, Came out 5 years before. And is still cooler, and more fun to play than CS.

August 23, 200421 yr Same old CS in a pretty new package... Nobody expected anything more of CS. CS is CS is CS. The engine is beautiful, and I can't wait until we have a real game to play on it -_-
