August 26, 200421 yr A computer. Yep. Got $600 ish right now, going to be $3.98 over $1000! (-rebates, that price include shipping & taxes) Chieftec Dragon Blue ATX Case & 500watt PSU: http://images.tigerdirect.ca/skuimages/large/AMD-500-BLUF.jpg WD 80GB HD (you know what a HD looks like.) 52x24x52 burner (its black omg) 512MB PC3200 400Mhz DDR RAM (less than $100 after rebates) 17" Recertified monitor (cheap, but I need a monitor) A7N8XE-Deluxe & AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (gonna overclock this baby) My old RADEON 9200 (plays FA fine...) Most of the money is in the Mobo and HD, and the case as well, that thing pwnz hard. Thoughts/suggestions on money saving tips? Havent ordered it yet, nor will I till about Christmas as long as the $$$ keeps flowin'. I'll probably upgrade it abit if it gets cheaper.
August 26, 200421 yr Get this CPU http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-440&depa=0 Why? These are all UNLOCKED SO you can adjust the multiplier and get the maximinum CPU mhz out of your chip Mine is runing at 2500mhz STABLE with 1.75 volts. http://secure.newegg.com/app/CustratingReview.asp?DEPA=0&item=19-103-440 If not this one then this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-401&depa=0 Yes they will work with that motherboard. If you can afford this. Then get this for memory....... TWO Sticks of course http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-219&depa=0
August 26, 200421 yr get a dvd/cdrw and upgrade hard drive to 120? i want the most space possible but i guess thats just me... umm sound card? and id mod your case. -G
August 26, 200421 yr That Mobo has an AWESOME onboard soundchip. No need for a soundcard or a NIC either.Actually you want to spend more money on the best parts you can. Then when you start running out of space. Get another HD.Same goes for memory. Get 512 now of good stuff. Then add another stick when the money is there.

They don't have an 8MB cache, but I'll think it over. The games are getting pretty big; America's Army: 2GB My Steam: 2GB BF1942: 2GB Vietnam: 1.5GB So that's 7.5 GB for four games, and who knows how much music and movies I have... Umm, Newegg doesn't ship to Canada, plus that RAM is mighty expensive, $140 American = $175 CDN circa. That's more than I spent on anything else (even the monitor) Thanks for the input, Mac Really helps out. www.tigerdirect.ca That's where I'm getting it from
August 29, 200421 yr Get a Smallish HD for now.How many games do you really play. When you run low. Buy a new HD and start loading stuff on it.I would not concern myslef with 2mb vs 8mb.You will see more performance differences with better videocards, motherbaords, CPU's, and Quantity/Quality of memory.Secondary items I would not max out or Not get to save money. DVD Writer, Big HD, Extra CDrom, Case Mods, Extra Ram, Fancy cables, Etc Etc.

Most of my money is going towards motherboard/CPU, as well as 3200 RAM, :\ Again, thanks for the tips. -Sock

August 29, 200421 yr Uh, does it come with Stands? You need to remember that the Nforce is FREE and does just as much. It just might not be as intuitive when it comes to speaker jacks.
