Hey Sock. Just gonna let you know, that the front side bus of a 2400+ is only either 266 or 333. If your ram is gonna be a 400 mhz DDR, you should get a Chip that can actually handle 400 FSB.

If you do want to keep the higher speed ram, I suggest going for a higher FSB capable Chip. Otherwise, you're spending unneeded cash on the extra RAM. If you do stick with the 2400, again, i suggest going to lower speed ram. Either or, if the Chip is a lower FSB speed than the RAM, then the RAM will run the same speed as the FSB. Therefore, spending more money on the RAM would cancel out the speed upgrade, making the more money you spent a waste. I might sound like I'm rambling, but I have some knowledge :)

I have that same case ( in black tho) and the power supply. It is beautiful and wasn't expensive either.

First off, price difference between PC2100, PC2700, and PC3200 memory isn't much. Memory rated at speed beyond that are when prices differ greatly. I would suggest that you get the amd 2500+ mobile which has a 333mhz fsb. The 2400+ has a 266mhz fsb. Since amd's are dual pumped the actual fsb speed is half of the effective speed advertised. 2500+ = 166mhz fsb, 2400+ = 133mhz fsb. At stock speeds yes the memory will not run @ 400mhz. But Socky wants to overclock. For example the 2400+ mobile uses a multiplier of 15 and a fsb of 133mhz, so 15 x 133 = 1995mhz cpu speed. Since this mobile cpu is multiplier unlocked you could change the multipier to say 11.5 and then raise the fsb to 200mhz, so 11.5 x 200mhz = 2300mhz cpu speed. Since the fsb was raised to 200mhz that ddr400 memory will be allowed to run @ 200mhz (effectively 400mhz). If slower memory was used in this situation he was need to use a memory divider to lower memory speed without lowering the fsb so that the memory would run stable. So yes its possible to run you memory @ 400mhz with a Xp2400+ mobile.

edit: just realized the 2500 mobile is 266mhz fsb unlike the desktop version being 333mhz.

GO with an Unlocked Mobile AMD Processor. A 2500 Barton Mobile will do Fine. They all overclock reasonably well so if you get a 2200 512k or a 2400 512k or a 2500 512k it really does not matter.Just get the Mobiles.
