May 1, 200322 yr Weezers cool. Not as big on the new stuff though. I HATE all of the new "punk" thats been coming out. It's stolen the name of a once-honorable genre of music and made a mockery of it. Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory..... none of them show hardly any talent in their music. I could play most of their songs with parts of my body I best not mention. The lyrics in their songs convey a meaningless and useless message. It's just a bunch of simple little beats that record companies put together in a big factory known as "pop culture". Avril Lavigne is another good example. She can hardly play guitar, yet she smashes a $3,000 Les Paul into a windshield..... even though it seemingly makes NO statement and has NOTHING to do with her RETARDED song. An Artist smashing up their guitar used to show the style of music they played, or make a statement of how they felt about something. Anyways.... bottom line: the entire "Sk8r PuNk" or "PuNk RaWk" industry is simply that.... an industry. [/end rant] (Thanks for that one Margsy )

May 1, 200322 yr Even The Used are getting sucked into the swarm a little bit. Anti-Flag, Rancid, Bad Religion, The Offspring... they still hold true in my book. A lot of the emerging Punk bands that originate in the underground TOTALLY modify their music and sell out. Have you ever listened to Unwritten Law's old music? You can totally tell the difference. Same with Finch. The band that I'm MOST disappointed with overall is AFI. Blegh. :?

What an asinine comment. Here's a small grace from me to you: First off, I can't stand it when people base an entire band and/or their album upon ONE SONG. Yes, it is their work, and yes it is something they created. But... be rational. Second of all, you just don't know what you're talking about. Have you ever thought that people just get to be better musicians than just "people in a punk band." I mean... the only punk band I've ever actually heard that had alot of musical talent was... well... AFI... and maybe The Vandals... MAYBE. Yes, The Offspring are one of my favourite bands of ALL TIME, but they aren't the best musicians, not even close. Some punk is good... just not most of it. Back to my 2nd point. All bands aren't Limp Bizkit. All bands don't sell out just to please their fans. Maybe (and you are in this case) you're COMPLETELY backwards. Some bands CHANGE for themselves, not for the public. The definetion of selling out is so they can gain more fans for the sole reason of gaining more/alot of money. Note that I'm argueing about AFI in specific, not anyone else. Point #3. Read up before you make an opinion. If not for the fact of making an idoit of yourself when you state your opinion, then for the fact of just being a better and smarter person. Bottom line with the AFI comment, it's THEIR MUSIC, THEIR WAY. Either like it or dislike it, don't falsely accuse them of something as stupid as selling out. Besides, this thread about bands you like, not bands you dislike. *Sigh*... I think my blood pressure just raised to dangerous levels. :shock: I DO give you "props" ( ) for liking SoaD and some good punk bands.
