September 21, 200421 yr I bought today the 4DVD 3x SW set.I watched the 4th disc with additional material and watched the A New Hope. And im..... dissapointed....It mustve been rebels, who made this. My primary gripe comes from bad sound remastering. It was supposed to free the movie from the hiss of the analog. Well... it did, but only partially. There are many scenes, when jumping from camera to camera also shifts the sound. The hiss is once inaudible, once its so loud, that you can barely hear what the actors are saying. This is perfectly heard with background noise. It also shifts from camera to camera. It is not constant throughout the movie, but jumps up and down. Very bad mixing. I dont know why havent i heard it in the cinemas 7 years in the past. Maybe now i got better hearing or i got a pirate copy... :/Second gripe: There is a mistake in the titles. The name of Imperial General Tagge is mistaken with 'Taggi'... blasted revels, dont hey know how to spell?Third gripe: G.Lucas didnt recieve my call through the force to add as an additional sound track a pure-music track (like i.e. 'Contact'). Im very dissapointed with that performance. Lucas is no Jedi. I think me and my TK421 Stormtroopers should go to those remixers (rebel cell obviously) and put a blaster bolt through their heads, so next time (their hiers of course) would not make the same mistake.Im gonna now go and watch 'The Empire Strikes Back'. I nothing changes i think im gonna quit SW and go to the FF clan.VERY ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!
September 21, 200421 yr Author Well, The Empire Struck Back.I found no hissing problems as in previous movie. This must be due to... executions of former rebel-sympathizing workers.I only hope that in the "Return of the Jedi", the Jedi wont return this time... or else some more rebels will have to be summarily executed.
September 22, 200421 yr Hehe well I'm looking forward to my boxset too, should be reciving it tomorrow :DI hope it's good and I wont have these sound issues.I can let you know about the sound stuff if you want Ky but I'm not the super sound buff Rebel,[DIAL]Doc
September 22, 200421 yr I remember when I got the special edition VHS set. And now they come out with a DVD set. Those buggers are out to take my money. 8) And I'll gladly give it to them.
September 22, 200421 yr Author OMG NOW IM REALLY PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I really didnt care for: *SPOILER*- Luke's green lightsaber in IV- Changed Emperor-Vader dialogue in V- Naboo celebration in VI- Hayden Christensen's head as DV in VI- Other changes/*SPOILER*I think they were fine...BUT THE SOUND IN VI IS JUST HORRIBLE. All the lines of Palpatine have spikes and the end credits music is just not-to-be-heard. Its terrible. Nevert i have heard so much noise in a movie. Who made these movies anyway? I heard some SW fans already turned it over to the shops (for the changes). I think im gonna do it for the sound. IT WERE THOSE REBELS AGAIN!!!!!!!! Im gonna kill'em.EDIT. Okay i calmed down now and i think i know the problem behind all this. It must be my sound card :/I played the bad parts again in 2.0 Surround (instread of 5.1) and i got it all clear. THANK THE EMPEROR!!!!!edit Shotty: Kywalker you know the rules, lease refrain from posting references to swear words.
September 22, 200421 yr Author Dammit hyabusa i was trying to incite a flamewar!!! (or riot) LOL. PWNED!!!
September 23, 200421 yr blasted revels, dont hey know how to spell? indeed I bought the DVD, so far I've just been watching the bonus materials. Inviting all my friends over on the weekend to watch all three movies in a row you getting battlegrounds ky?
September 23, 200421 yr Author Its not 'Battlegrounds', but 'Battlefront', and YES I AM. But here it comes out on 29th.
September 24, 200421 yr Yes, Battlegrounds is a game (mod actually) too, but it doesn't have anything to do with Star Wars. Since the topic relates to Star Wars, I believe he meant to say "Battlefront" so Ky was just correcting him.But yeah, I want to try out Battlefront. Seems like a good game.
September 24, 200421 yr if you read interviews with G. Lucas over the years including a recent one, a dsiturbing fact comes to be known: Lucas doenst give a *censored* about the fan community. He has said time and time again that he does not listen to the fan community at all and that the SW movies are only what HE wants, and what he wants are crappy exercises in old (read: poorly made) school film making. SW is dead, episode 3 will suck just as bad as 1 and 2 since he wont acknowledge the necessity for real acting and real dialogue. Sorry to burst anyones bubble but SW is dead to this ex-fanboy
September 24, 200421 yr Ok I just watched A New Hope this week and I'm still amazed by how cool that universe feels and some of the designs are still as cool as they where back then.To Defcon:My question is why should he have to listen to the fan comunity? Did anyone ever ask Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola or any other director for that, to change thier movies because of the fans?!?!? I don't think so. I enjoy the movies for what they are and not my personal wishes I have for them to be...People need to relax a bit and enjoy things for what they are. Liking something or being a Fan dosen't give you automatically the right to say what should happen to it. So nexttime you go watch a movie just enjoy it for what it is, a pice of art and entertainment. Ether you like it or not, but you can't change the movie or expect sequels to be what you want....and if you don't like a movie and think they should do things your way why don't you go and become a movie director yourself and then you can listen to all the fans and their wishes and do what they want or maybe at that point you'd go "hm, I came that fare I wanna do my stuff and not their stuff". Possible?! who knows?Well I'm looking forward to EP3 and watching all the other ones on DVD,[DIAL]Doc
September 25, 200421 yr Ah! Doc! you said everything I wanted to say and more. And you even said it better than I could. Why would a director ever listen to what fans want? It's his work, not the fans'. Personally, he's not doing it to please the fans and make more money, otherwise, he would actually care about their input. He's doing it for himself. Star Wars is his life's work, and to be honest, there's no movie out there that can please every person. Unfortunately, DEFCON, you weren't pleased with his results, but several million others were. Obviously, it's better to please millions than a few thousand. 8) Bottom line: Star Wars is greatness. P.S. Am I understanding correctly that you (DEFCON) liked the original Star Wars trilogy, but hate the prequels? You shouldn't hate the series because Episodes 1 and 2 are not what you want them to be. You should like each movie based on its own merit, not on how good/bad the others were.
September 25, 200421 yr you two are the first two i ve met who liked the prequels. My main gripe was the fact that the dialogue was poorly written and even more poorly performed. They all acted like robots. As for the fan thing you are right to a certain degree, but sometimes focusing too much on your vision, especially when there are some glaring errors is not a good way to stay in touch with reality of what people want to see. And lets face it, SW is all about what ppl want to see
