November 14, 200421 yr I just realized that, including the HL2 collector's edition, (85 bucks) My bro and I have spent almost half a grand JUST to play Half Life 2! I'll break it down:Radeon 9800 Pro Video Card: $240512 Mb PC 2100(I think) DDR Ram: $100DVD-rom drive: $42Half Life 2 Collector's Edition: $85Grand Total: $467!!!!!This may not seem like much to some, but this is a large amount of money for me and my brother! Any other big spenders for HL2? BeccaP.S. Of course I believe that our money is very well spentfor HL2, I probably would have sacrificed more if needed! If I disappear for a while after Tuesday, you will know why!

November 14, 200421 yr Well, I don't know if it was for HL2, but I spent some money and it ended up working out, because to play HL2 with full everything, and still get 100 FPS you need top-of-the-line things.CPU: AMD Athlon64 3200+ (@2.2ghz stock) $218GPU: Nvidia 6800GT 400/1100 $415 <--I hate Radeon.RAM: 1 gig Crucial 3200 $187 maybe?Mobo: MSI K8N Neo $122(I actually built the whole system, but these are the highlighted parts.)Total of all these parts: Nuclear Flaggurnalnesstempter

November 14, 200421 yr Author I hate Radeon. Why do you hate Radeon Sam.Gen.? In my opinion the Radeon 9800PRO (128 MB) is a great video card, considering that if you overclock it it can perform better or as good as some of the high end 256mb cards out there! I played Doom 3 without a hitch, the graphics were astounding for me! I guess it is just by one's preference, no? Becca

When I think ATI I think, Frustration and problems. ATI just isn't as great as it could be. I love Nvidia, and would never chose ATI over Nvidia.
November 14, 200421 yr i've have the radeon cards and i just got my first Nvidia card. i say they are about the same, but in the long run you get what u pay for. also the only thing that u might need to upgrade from year to year is the GPU and RAM. most games don't even strain a 3ghz comp. same thing for the athlon 64's and pci exp. software is way behind hardware.
November 14, 200421 yr here is my idea for any bugent cruncher/ penny pincherResolution: 800X600Any and all Hi-Res texture/lighting effects- offDraw distance- lowest possibleAA- Offwith those setting you can play it on just about any thing, except for azn and his commador 64 h4xfest box.
