Gator what's the patch mean??

Featured Replies

I was wondering what the patch under your name means ??

I wastching an Epsoide of Stargate-SG1 and noticed it on a hat of one of the security guards...

The patch is the Security Forces "flash". I was a Secuirty Policeman during my entire tenure in the United States Air Force. The US Army uses the term "Military Police" for the same job, but the Air Force had to be different and ended up calling it "Air Police" after they seperated from the US Army Air Corps many years ago. The name was later changed to "Security Police:, and again changed to the present name which is "Security Forces".

Here is a nice brief (unofficial) history of the USAF Security Forces:

I was searching the web and found this little piece someone had written. I thought it was nice so here it is...

The Blue Beret

The Army has it's claim to fame;

The Airborne Rangers, the Green Berets.

The world knows the Navy Seals;

Life of Danger, Men of Steel.

The Corps have their elite too;

Recon Patrol, the Proud, the Few.

But when it comes to us, not much is heard;

We're just the Cops who guard the birds.

In Vietnam, through toil and strife,

We gave it all, our hearts, our life.

A page in history, a chapter in time;

We fought for freedom, yours and mine.

We stayed vigilant through cold and rain,

and bear the fatigue, hardship, and pain.

This piece of ground, we will defend,

Side by side `til the bitter end.

So fear not pilot, you can fly all day,

This base is guarded by the Blue Beret.

My actual job tilte was "Law Enforcement Specialist", and that's just what I did. I miss many things about the Air Force, and my job, so I thought I would make the SF Flash my avatar. Like the people at the Armory, I mainly miss the people and friendships I had while I was serving. I went from defending world freedoms to playing FPS games...It was a major paradigm shift in my life. :D

The air force also started sticking to their own guard when a Navy sailor was guarding a c-5 galaxy and was practicing his draw.... you can imagine he put a hole in the windshield. That was then end of multi branch security force =p

My dad was Air Force Security Police when he was in as well, late 70's

and you guys wondered about all the cops in the clan. There are more than you thought :D

Tell them about your local PD time Gator...

I sent him an application for us but couldnt twist his arm enough to come back to kicking in doors :o

My original plan was military all the way but now i am doing time i nthe service just because iwant to then im gonna try to go FBI or police. BTW that was a great piece gator, i am gonna take in to my rotc class next week

Cops are great and all but nothing Beats the Port Dawg (AFSC 2T2X1)

our motto "Try Fighting Without Us" If you plan on going anywhere in the military chances are you are dealing with Porters.
