January 18, 200521 yr Whoot! A way to practice with the new bots! 8) Start game * Choose "Create Server" * Options under "Server" tab * Choose your practice map or random * Check "Include CPU players" * Put number of bots (remember to set to odd # to include yourself) * Set Difficulty * Options under the "Game" tab * Set your game options and remember to put a PW in to keep follks out of your game * Then set the rest of the game settings * Options under "CPU Player Options" * Configure & start the game! :o You can practice offline with bots as long as you like! 8) Whatever settings you type in are then remembered by the game, even the Password, so you can play offline quickly from then on with a click of a button! NOTE: the bots can be REALLY annoying with the radio chatter...so unless you want to hear that almost continually, set the radio to "minimal!"
January 18, 200521 yr http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=231241 More console commands.
January 19, 200521 yr Interesting. Start up a lan game and add 3 bots to the oposing team. Make them use knives only bot_knives_only then type this command sv_showimpacts 1 Now go have your way with the bots and watch where your rounds land on the enemy. I tried using bot_freeze and bot_freeze name but couldn't get it to work. Wanted to test the hitboxes fully and see if shoulders got in the way of the head hitbox. Alot of my head aiming shots ended up hitting the shoulder alot....
January 19, 200521 yr Now go have your way with the bots thats not my style i couldnt get it to work either, but i do like the bot_kill command so i don't have to wait for a new round, just slaying all the bots is nice
January 19, 200521 yr Want the majorly outnumbered, against all odds situation? Well, you can. I did some fairly easy searching through commands and such and a, lets say, 20 vs 1 situation works. First, setup the server with as many bots you want against you and have them all go on one side, whether it be T or CT. It helps if you disable all weapons for them as well. Put it on expert if you really like a challenge too, though they only have knives. Jump into the game and put this command into the console: "mp_autoteambalance 0". And then this one as well: "mp_limitteams #" (Replace the # with a number, depends on what your bot count was - I set mine at 21 or something for a 20 v 1 situation). It should take effect immediately. It makes for some intense situations where they all come rushing out the corner, knives in hand. I've been forced atop a box with all of them jumping around me. Scary.
January 19, 200521 yr in CZ i did 16:1 and i got a para and they could only use knives, on playground x, good times, i just hope they get a vgui menu out for it or its too confusing
January 19, 200521 yr For the sv_showimpacts 1 you may need to enable sv_cheats 1 Man, im suprised how well the bots play on expert.
January 19, 200521 yr Man, im suprised how well the bots play on expert. Yea. I was happy when I won a one on one duel with the bot on expert one round. I pistoled him.
January 19, 200521 yr I did a 20 vs 1 them with knives and grenades only on Dust 2. I got raped! Had them on expert level. I also tried bot_diffuculty 6 but I didnt see a change. I know there is setting 1 through 5 but not sure if cmd console allows any higher. Also did sv_gravity to 200 and we had some good matrix fights lol
January 19, 200521 yr it was interesting to do showimpact 1 and then see how accurate the guns are in diffrent positions, i found that side strafing and firing at the change of direction was almost 100% accurate to where the cursor was, while standing still and firing a few seconds apart produced much less than that, and crouching didnt help much at all. so if you can side strafe well then that is the way to go, unless you want to take a gamble with sources buggy hitboxes and crouch and spray
