Done with Internet Exploder...

Featured Replies

I'm done with Internet Exploder (aka Internet Explorer, the browser that comes with every copy of Windows). There's soooo much spyware that's crawling through it nowadays that it's simply not worth it. That and it doesn't display my Senior Project properly while FireFox does :peace: So much for Internet Exploder being compatible with everything.

Sorry, but I feel a tangent coming on, bear with me... I think it's funny that I've had all year to do this project but I've only just recently gotten any real work done on it. That and the fact that it's due in about a month isn't very good seeing as I have a LOT of stuff to do still :( .... Ok, the tangent has worn off, it's safe to come out now!

Does anyone else share my sentiments? With Internet Exploder, my adaware caught at least 50 spyware per scan which I made daily then. When I switched over to FireFox, I get like 6 every week. That and Tabbed browsing is a blessing as is the built in pop-up blocker. Now, I'm not going to tell you guys to switch to Firefox as well, but if you did you won't regret it.

Here's a screenshot of what my first webpage is supposed to look like next to what Internet Exploder bastardized it into:

one of your favorites is torrentspy.com . . . . BANNED

 *pulls out the flashy thing from MIB and uses it* You never saw torrentspy.com in my favorites. :( :peace:

Never have any problems with IE? I stay on top of it, and keep a close watch on the spyware and what not to avoid any problems..

TFD

try firefox or full mozilla or Opera(my choice) all are great and they stop more of that crap from even getting in than IE. hope this helps.

Thanks for the new site. Ill be sure to check it out.

PS.

If IE doesnt properly display your page, its only your fault. You are a horrible programmer. Make a code that is compatible with everything. Check the stats of (f.e.) this server - you will see that most people conect here using IE.

PS

Microsoft IS THE BEST.

:peace:

Oh no, my dear sir.

I use MSWincrap as long as i have computer.

have all kinds of problems with it, crashes everyday, cant setup hardware properly (thats why when under one system some games work, on other they do not), its leaky as rusted drainpipe, have to reinstall every year or so... and such trivial inconvinience...

...but i still love it. Im a masochist, true, but life would be too boring without it, eh?

Things like MSN Search toolbar and that visual bookmark things are activex controls that you clicked "Yes" to install at one point or another, or came bundled with some other stupied piece of software that you failed to read the fine print on.

Don't do that. It's not IE's fault you accepted them.

Additionally, your choice of sites to visit might have a bit to do with your troubles......

Yeah, I won't argue with that Carl, But going to the same sites with FireFox and having no problems whatsoever kinda deflates my enthusiasm for Internet Exploder. Those activex things probably got installed after I got tired of IE, so that's not really a problem, and I don't go to bittorrent sites as often as you may think; only if things like my Photoshop or Cinema 4D get corrupt so I can reDL them. Usually only go to Graphics sites(Yes, believe it or not I am a Graphics Artist. I'm one of the graphics mods at WebCargo Studios) or gaming sites like this.

I never said spyware only comes from Internet Exploder, I said I got a lot less from Firefox :peace: As for Firefox all the way, I couldn't agree more

BTW, the visual bookmarks thing for Firefox is a built in feature :( it's very conveneint as are the tabbed browsing

i can't even use IE,with out pop up after pop ups.i've deleted it form almost everywhere on my comp. cep i do still keep 1 instance of it cuz of those times you need to enter a web site that fire fox won't work in.i wish it wasn't that way,but i just can't seem to keep IE in check unless i wanta reformat weekly-lol

why bother keeping such a close eye all the time. i have had ZERO problems with firefox for as long as i had it. i love it. IE messed up every other day.

gg firefox

-G

sure, you have to hate MS for some things, but you got to love them for the good things they have brought us, like one of the only OS's good enough to game with :D

and I don't have any problems with XP that others have (like crashing, lockups, etc.) so I can't see why people hate MS for XP so much

I use XP sp2 on about 600 computers. I agree there have been and still are some problems, but most of them are user related (notice I said most and not all!!). IE is a spyware magnet, but with a couple of programs you can stop most of it (ad-aware, spybot etc.).

Ok, I managed to fix the interface problem in IE where it distorts the interface for longer pages, for example the index page. BUT, there's a problem with that fix.... It screws up the short pages now. GG Internet Exploder, you are a pain in the behind >_<

That reminds me, I gotta check to see how it works in Firefox :o I hope I didn't screw with it there!

Also, before this gets too much into a flame war against Internet Exploder, this thread was started because I couldn't believe that it would be so retarted when it first distorted my SR Project webpage. This latest incident only reinforced that opinion. I tolerated IE untill then, but that was the last straw. It's true that it's shortcomings can be overcome, it's just easier to switch over to Firefox.

You may now continue bashing Microsoft :D :D

>update<

Whew, it still works perfectly in Fire Fox. Thank god for FireFox! :D :sorry:

avantbrowser pls

For the love of <insert loved ones name here>, don't get this browser. It's simply Internet Explorer with tabbed browsing. It doesn't block spyware or adware, and it doesn't stop popups.

Yeah, the avant browser doesn't look all that great. But anyone have ideas on how to fix my webpage again? Now instead of the side bars blown out od porportion, it's the content header(The big yellow gradient) that gets expanded in IE. Please don't tell me I have to put the content box in it's own table within a table >_<

PS, that what I did for the side bar, took the entire thing and made it it's own table and then placed it in a large cell.
