June 7, 200520 yr Apple is switching to Intel!!!!!! PC's won, woohoo! Now those snobbish, elitist Apple folk have to use the same processors as the rest of us "mere mortlas". Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it. Booyah!
June 7, 200520 yr i thought PCs won many moons ago :? only thing apple has goin is media production and portable electronics
June 7, 200520 yr Well, the only thing that is different for Mac's now is that they have to use louder coolers on those processors. I hope people don't mind the screaming fan on the heatsink.
June 7, 200520 yr in case you are wondering yes it is because of the problems with the G5 as to why they are moving to intel chips. the IBM powerpc cpu's reached its pinnacle as far as speed they couldn't get anything over 3Ghz without overheating even with the liquid cooling system that the G5's were using. Don't worry the Mac's will probably still be mostly proprietary. They're saying you could probably run Microsoft windows on the new machines but you still wont be able to run OSX on a PC. It's only smart business that I see...
June 7, 200520 yr yes they are switching to intel because IBM cannot make a G5 laptop because of the heat problems.
June 7, 200520 yr Author lol, probably not (I hear most P4's declock themselves by default because of poor stock 'sinks). Still, for me its not the technical aspects that make me giddy. I am so sick of Mac people being all aloof and condescending about their hardware. What good is a "super computer" proc if it overheats a water cooling system? What would be next, the Macintosh G6 with i-Phasechange cooling and a built in refridgerator for your cappuchinos? For me, its a purely moral victory.
June 7, 200520 yr yes, every talks about G5s like OMGZ SOOPER KOMPUTER OLOLO if i remember correctly, pentiums and athlons beat the g5 in most benchmarks. btw, did apple ever implement the right click?
June 8, 200520 yr Author yes, If you use a mouse that has a right mouse button you can right click and do something. However, we all know that if you bought a mouse other than the one that came with the mouse you would break the whole Apple aethetics and we cant have that now can we? After all, Function Follows Form in Appleland
June 8, 200520 yr Ever go to a software store and look at the software selections? Shelves, and shelves, and aisles and aisles of PC software, and over in a dark corner, a lone shelf, with all the Mac software available... That's what cracks my arse. How can anyone be happy with such a limmited software selection.. Our graphics guy here is always talking about how good Mac is, and I always bring that point up. Unless your into advertising, or hard core graphics work, I don't see the point of a Mac, especially when they tend to be so much more expensive too.. TFD
