June 6, 200322 yr -BornToDie]Question :It is possible to spectate this challenge ?Egidio. Egidio brings up a wonderful idea here, Gator. an HLTV proxy takes up only one slot from the server, which means the (public server) game would still have 25 players, and the TAC server 23. With HLTV enabled, hundreds of people could watch the game as it's happening (or with a slight delay) without taking up more than one slot's worth of bandwidth. It could bring us some great movie fodder, you could watch over suspected cheaters, and we could learn from some of the better players' tactics. It's an Idea you might take a look into!!
June 6, 200322 yr The TAC has 20 slots btw. This is an Idea worth looking into.I would suggest certain nights if possible like TV shows are on certain nights. Then the coolness would not be overdone and it would be something to look forward to.
June 6, 200322 yr i would love to watch a game where the people actually worked as teams, seeing people running around like headless chickens would be less fun, but still something to do heh

June 7, 200322 yr Author -Gator]Readhttp://www.slipgate.de/hltv/hltv_FAQ_admins.htmlThis is more than I would want to deal with...no can do i'm confused... i read the link you gave... but all i get out of it is:Server: Run HLTV.exeClient: connect to the same IP you would to play, except :27020The kids at Cow TV (128.243.247.245:27020) seem to have had no trouble with HLTV (I spoke with 'im when he plyaed the Armory recently).maybe i'm misreading the link... what's the "more than I want to deal with" bit?

Our provider is looking at us now because we are always busy and use a lot of bandwidth.Anyways, let me know Kilf. I actually saw that a while back, but ehn I read the install guide, it seemed very complex
June 7, 200322 yr this setup requires a proxy, so you would need an extra host (pc). i dont think it matters where it is, but it will need its own ip address for others to connect to spectate. this additional pc will connect to the halflife server when you run hltv and those who wish to spectate will need the ip of the extra computer to join in and watch.if you rent a server you would have to rent an extra ip and another computer to go with it, however if the bandwidth need isnt great you should be able to run hltv from a home computer if you have a good broadband connection with a fast uploadoh if u guys run a linux server you might not need anything extra, since the hltv uses a different port to connect all you have to do is run hltv in a background process and use the same ip as ur server with a port of 27020
June 7, 200322 yr Outch !This begin more expensive now ! Who have the HLTV file for me ( i dont fund it ) ?But i have 4 PC at house with each win 95, 98se & 2 with xp !Do you need one ( it's a joke ) ?Egidio.I dont speak of the 5th pc ( 486 ) because it is in win 3.11 ! :lol:And i keep, guard my 7 Atari ( 2 old 8 bits ( 800 ) & 5 old 16/32 bits ( ST/E & mega ) : i have payed all of them when i have stopped to smoke since 20 years ago ! ).

I also did some digging on the internet. http://www.hltv.org/read.asp?id=247 as well as the file on my computer called hltv-readme.txt very informative. I had no idea it meant a whole new computer and IP, however Ulkesh's "run it on the same machine" idea is what I was thinking would also work. A dedicated HLTV server on a T3 line can hold up to 255 viewers. on DSL, can hold 20. I dunno the speed of the armoury, sorry. If the server is split between an HL game and an HLTV proxy, assuming 25 players max plus 1 slot for the HLTV, the HLTV can handle 10 viewers (T3 line). There's some numbers for you, Gator. I had no idea it actually took so much. Silly Klif. Of course, I could always just set up my ghetto-HLTV proxy into the armoury when I'm not at home (with permission, of course). -BornToDie]Who have the HLTV file for me ( i dont fund it ) ? And i keep, guard my 7 Atari ( 2 old 8 bits ( 800 ) & 5 old 16/32 bits ( ST/E & mega ) the HLTV fileS come with half-life. Click the link above, it'll tell you which are necessary. They should be in the same directory as your HL.exe file.
June 7, 200322 yr Thank you very much Klify !I never made attention that file was existing in the folder of HL !I have thinked there is for a tv screen added to the graphics card ! Egidio.
