June 27, 200520 yr Have you tried the demo? It not try it and ask yourself that question after 2 hours of play.
June 27, 200520 yr It is a very good squad based game. If you have friends you can play with or a clan where you can get together and have fun using good tactics. The game is a blast. It has heavy requirements. You must have a beefy System and Great Internet to enjoy the larger servers and get the squads going. The action is good. Still not sure about the 1 vs 1 FA style of play on smaller maps. NO REG. Sound familiar?
June 27, 200520 yr It's not worth $50 bucks ...its more worth about $100 LOL. Sure is. Send the other $50 to TAC.
June 28, 200520 yr Author DETHMONGER ok, no I havent tried the demo. I didnt feel like dl it, i guess ill try it. Question first. I get @ 150 fps in css on high settings, im all good for BF2 i hope?
June 28, 200520 yr If you can afford to upgrade your pc for this high demanding game, then it's worth it. If not like in my case I can't afford all the upgrading like getting windows xp first in order to play, and probably a new video card and whatever else that needs an upgrade, then it's not really worth getting if you can't afford the upgrades like me . Hence my new sig.
June 28, 200520 yr Author i should be ok, > gig of ram, 6600 pci-express, nforce 3200 64mb processor or something like that.
June 28, 200520 yr Dont buy it yet, wait a couple days for the first patch or you may just break your comp out of frustration. When you can actually play the game (without this horrendous lag or stupiditis infecting the server), its the best game ever made hands down. It takes me on average 5-10 minutes to even join a server do to a long login time, the WORST BROWSER EVER EVER EVER, and long loads. Give it a week or two, enjoy the demo, then buy the game when it is patched.
June 28, 200520 yr i hate all of u with your nifty computers not really... just waiting for bills to get paid before i can spend some money on my new system. oh ya i hate wireless internet. oh ya i cant wait to get bf2 i dont care how long it takes but im going to get it. it might take me a year but ill see u on the battlefield
June 28, 200520 yr i should be ok, > gig of ram, 6600 pci-express, nforce 3200 64mb processor or something like that. (he fried it 3 times but now it works)
June 28, 200520 yr Yes...... yes it is.... And Gator give me the other 50 so i can play with parts (we only have one copy >.<)
June 28, 200520 yr Seriously, dont buy this game yet. IT just deleted my stats AGAIN. Not to mention it keeps F-ing up the login. The server browser is so bad, I am actively considering installing Gamespy Arcade which is only marginally better
June 28, 200520 yr If you're an avid on-line player (means: you buy everything that is labelled "on-line game") you're going to buy this anyway. If you're an avid FPS's player you can consider to buy it if: you like team play (and it's really, really like it), you feel being always first isn't your main goal each round, you can accept being gunman if someone is better driver/ pilot, you want to use various weapons and I mean such a variety that m16 appears to be pathetic and it may happen you can't have the single kill using a personal rifle 3 rounds in a row, you are tired of FA or CSS when it's like: jump+crouch-then-hit-3-times-run-then-one-time-reload-then-switch-to-single-fire-and-you-have-perfect-headshot-and-already-reloaded-gun-but-psst!-don't-tell-it-to-anyone-cause-it's-a-secret-of-really-leet-players. ON TOP OF IT: like someone said before, why don't you try it yourself (by downloading a demo) and see if it is worth 50$ to YOU?
June 28, 200520 yr The game is definitely worth the money. Although - we're starting to get a "gripe list" put together that addresses some of the things we miss or could do well without: 1) Server Browser... - seems like DICE forgot everything they did "right" in BF42 and BFV. No Fav list, no buddies etc - and extremely buggy 2) Teamkill feature. Both good and bad. It's good that smacktards are being punished, but it's a clear case of good technology vs stupid players. People should step outside of their comfort zone at times to actually "forgive" TK's if they are clearly accidental. That's what the system is designed to let you do. Everyone just seems to take a TK personal, regardless if it was unintentional or not. Things like driving over friendly mines, ignoring Commander warnings about pending arty strikes, or jumping out of or in front of moving vehicles should count as Darwin's Law (or Suicide) - and not TK's. 3) Ranked vs Unranked - what the hell was EA thinking? There are clearly more privately owned servers out there than the overpriced EA ranked ones. One could simply "boycott" this monopoly, but realize that if one of these rank jockeys enters your non- ranked servers and applies for Commander, he will get first dibbs due to his ranking status. The only other option is to disable the Commander mode and cut out about 50% of the fun. 4) Name changes - changing your name in BF2 means you start from scratch with your rank. Rather than tying your persistent profile to your email address like steam does, or create a cd-key/pb hash like they did in BF42 1.6 - they chose the game Nick of all things to dictate your profile. This of course impacts people when joining, leaving or switching clans. Not very smart. 5) Modern warfare. Sure we got a bunch of cool new stuff like the squads and commander mode, but where are all the cool new features we we're looking forward to, like the laser guided missles and the repelling out of helo's? In return we gave up the music in vehicles (BFV) and the ability to drive ships and submarines. Give and take I guess - but I'm a little disapointed that these great ideas got waxed. While I clearly like this new game - and I am sure I'll be playing it for quite some time - I don't see this great "gaming revolution" that everyone is so hyped about. To me it feels like a cross between DC and BFV, and not like a whole new engine. I mean, I don't mind drinking the coolaid, but sometimes I need to come up for air :peace:
June 28, 200520 yr Excellent points SirCamp. I have great hope that the mod tools will create something that will make this engine really shine. Edit: Even if it can let the mod community drive bugfixes and enhancements faster than EA can produce them.
June 28, 200520 yr The one thing I will give DICE that is about the only thing keeping me playing the game at this point (besides the strangely addictive reward system), is the teamplay. For once, there is actually A LOT of team play. It heartens me to see squads of guys acting cohesively to accomplish an objective, even if the commander is a *******. The best part is, i have seen this on other pubs too, not just TAC
June 29, 200520 yr Author OK, I dled the demo but it freezes on me everytime I join a server. I cant alt + tab alt delete, hit the windows key or anything to exit out of it. It just sits there frozen on the "pick a class" screen. Not impressed so far even tho I havent been able to actually play the damn game.
