If people are swearing and he's been warning them doesn't mean I should take flack for their actions. I was wrong and I would like to be unbanned.

I have been on the armory and have seen people use racial and homophobic slurs. Nothing was done, unless the residing admins were constantly bothered by the people playing. Yet... recently a "non" swearing no tolerance policy has been adopted by certain admins. Please figure out exactly what your policies are so everyone knows what they can and can't do to prevent further confusion.

your right some times people get away with breaking our rules.maybe cuz there's no admin on at the time or perhaps the violation was missed,and even sometimes overlooked as to give someone a second chance.according to the report of your banning you were warned many times and still didn't stop.now of course i wasn't there,and for the record i have no problems with you,but rules are rules and when the admin makes up his mind it's up them that person to unban.so you need to talk with klink.

Yes, people have been getting out of hand lately. Sometimes admins miss things while playing, and sometimes they let minor things pass. Using this as an excuse for breaking rules when you know better just won't work. It really doesn't matter if other people say something worse, that does NOT give anyone the right to start swearing on our server.

 

A little common sense: when in doubt, don't do it. You might get away with it once or twice, but you will start to think it's accepted, and you will eventually get the boot for it. Don't start complaining about it afterwards.

I'm not complaining about it afterwards. If pointing out a very true and specific fact is called an attempt at rationalization; Not whining. Is it unreasonable for me to get fed up or angry when people act and or play a certain way just because I come in to play with my full name and tags on? Hell, I understand that I'm a target, but sometimes I'm going to have more than my fill of childish crap and lash out back at them. If you can give me a little understanding here and uban me that would be great. I play on TAC alot and for the most part enjoy myself. I've been playing lately under the name disgustipated. I'm sure you've seen me on there playing.

Our policy is "common sense". We have a nice server and we want to keep it that way. The "no foul language" rule is posted on the MOTD everytime the map changes, and everyone who has played on our server knows this.

 

We want to have a nice environment so our players can enjoy the game, and we plan to keep it that way. I'm sure other servers like the S^D may be more suited for those who like name calling. ...we don't

I'm all for a friendly environment. However you can't black and white it like that. When so many people say so many things that they get away with. Then a server regular sees this, finally has more than enough and then speaks out about it.... he faces the consequences. I know full well that the no swearing rule is in the motd, but if you can't enforce a rule "All of the time." then it shouldn't be enforced so strictly when people decide that they want to. Some consistency would be great, then we would all know exactly what we can and can't do when we play on TAC.

Last night on the server before you arrived things were getting out of hand and I let everyone know that bad language and racism are not allowed on the server. This was before you entered and yes people were kicked before you were. Shortly after you entered you swore and I believe I told you to stop then I kicked you. Your swearing was blatant out loud over the mic and it wasn't a mistake. You had to key the mic to swear when you could have done it in private. Yes, others swore and they were kicked too. You were banned because you kept on swearing and even more after I asked you not to. Usually I let the person know what not to do. I don't threaten them just a polite warning. Next, is a kick because obviously they need to know that we are not kidding about the language. If they come back and have no problem, like everyone else last night, then all is well. IF there is a problem and they swear and complain then what am I to do? You say you wanted a rational conversation but all I heard was swearing on your end and me trying to tell you it's just a rule. You should know this rule by now ( see screenshot below) and I didn't think you really even needed to be warned since you play here all the time and have for a long time.

I don't play favorites. I haven't had a problem with you or anyone for that matter. I enjoy playing with you and don't enjoy kicking people. There are too few good players or just players for that matter to be kicking everyone out.

Of course I know I'm not supposed to swear, I didn't dispute that. I'd hope however that given the circumstances you would use the "common sense" that gator spoke of to evaluate the situation. I would really like to be unbanned. There are no other servers worth playing on anymore. If you won't best of luck and its been nice playing Firearms with you.

I can't say what other admins do in these situations. I assume we should all do the same thing.

 

1) let person know that they have broken a rule

 

2) if they persist they are kicked

 

3) if they come back and persist a lot they are banned.

 

This is my way of doing it, just so you know. I say no tolerance only after people start getting out of hand because I can't spend the whole night warning people left and right because it is too hard to keep track of all the infractions. This way when they are kicked they are already warned in advance and have no argument.

I understand completely, I'm always the one that has to suspend and discipline people in the league. When things get out of hand they say "Jon deal with it." Many apologies for the poor mood I was in. I had three iA members team camping me the second I joined the server. I'll be under alias from now on methinks.

jonjon i know some of the members including me have binds that warn ppl when they use bad language. i know klink has a csay one dead haze and me both have allchat ones. the way i see it is u shouldn't have to be warned in game. the motd says no bad language so that should be ur warning nuff said.
