Would anyone happen to know of a way to get around the Windows Validation process before d/loading Microsoft Anti-Spyware. I only ask this beacuse I have a *cough* semi-legitimate copy of Windows XP.

Well ... what version is it ? Home, Pro ?

XP Pro Corporate edition allows multiple users on that business license.

If it's a case of getting a used xp cd from someone no longer using that operating system, the cdkey may be accepted but becasue still in records,

you'll only get updates as far as SP2. The next 3 after that contain an update regarding something more of validating. Maybe if that 1 of the 3 can be refused, you might get more updates past that. I dunno for sure.

Just use your own other firewall/antirus and anti-spy/adware software. Free stuff available on net for that.

Well Windows Update works well for me... while purusing through the Add-On's loaded into IE I saw something called Windows Genuine Advantage that was enabled. Knowing full well it was a virus/spyware of some sort I disabled this addon.

I was also able to download the new updates that were released earlier this week on Windows Update. It's good to know that Microsoft likes the fact that I take the pre-emptive step towards protecting myself from 3rd party plugin's that act like they're from Microsoft... even if Microsoft does refer to them on their homepage.

None the less... I've yet to discover why I cannot download Microsoft Anti-Spyware... looks like they rigged that one up a little better...

Thanks for the info. I just found that same spyware "Genuine Advantage" under internet options-programs-manage add-ons.

bah..im probaly gonna get slammed for saying this but

most highly secure programs like photoshop have activation, with an option to activate via phone. the phone gives you a code..so the keygen makers have programs that generate that code.

so if you have the phone option and access to google im sure this helps

psst... over here anti-spy is about to go bye-bye get counter-spy its better anyway...
