September 8, 200520 yr im looking to get a paintball gun, and i need people to give recomendations right now im thinking of bidding on this
September 8, 200520 yr wow...its almost....pink (no flaming if thats not pink. i'm color blind) I dont know much about paintball guns dh, but i hear that Tippman's are real reliable and the 98 custom can be modded beyond belief
September 8, 200520 yr id go for a tippman 98 everybody knows how to work on one cheap parts simple to work on your self very tough even cheaper since almost everybody has one as there first gun i have a smart parts ion now but my first was a 98 and its the perfect first gun electro guns are more complicated and much harder to work on (the gun in the link is an electro)
September 8, 200520 yr Tippman A-5+ reactive= full auto, and it cost less (might want to get the flatline barrel or an 11 inch for it though, stock is kinda bad)
September 8, 200520 yr i have a procarbine and thats ok but the pressure is to low. if u tell me the about u want to spend i could find something.
September 8, 200520 yr well heres some that are out of ur range but look cool http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/pages-main/category-99_100/paintball-guns-armotech.html?zenid=8fcccd82752038d7a629a3583523bf73 heres the tipman 98 http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/pages-main/category-99_115_456/paintball-guns-tippmann-tippmann-98.html?zenid=8fcccd82752038d7a629a3583523bf73 and the a-5 http://www.firstcallpaintball.com/pages-main/category-99_115_457/paintball-guns-tippmann-tippmann-a5.html?zenid=8fcccd82752038d7a629a3583523bf73
September 8, 200520 yr You need to decide or tell us how you are going to play. Where. What style. What guns you are going against. I have a tippman pro-lite with a very good barrel. I have a Game Face bone Daddy GT with a Tear Drop Barrel I have a Tippman 98 Custom with an Armson Rifled barrel. I have several K-Mart special cheapie guns with good "Spyder" after market barrels. The Cheapie guns hit as far and as accurate as all the others . I have played against the best equipment and they all go down just as easy. It is really about the Shooter. Not the gun. Save your money. Get a decent gun. ($100) Then get a really good barrel. My kids have taken out LEET field players with the cheap guns. We have all taken out the LEET field players. I love it when the leet players come walking off the field and I ask them "Hows it feel to be owned by a 12 year old with a K-mart gun?" Could they have done this with stock guns? NO. Bottom line. A good barrel and matched ammo for the barrel will best the best $2000 gun combo if he has a lousy barrel and the ammo does not shoot well with it. Don't believe me. My Family against any 4 of you guys here. We will use 3 Kmart specials and a Tippman.
September 8, 200520 yr My Family against any 4 of you guys here. We will use 3 Kmart specials and a Tippman. Oh it's on. Woods, and I choose my three friends, with which we know what we're doing. We know where each other are, and how to fix up a problem (ie lead attacker gets taken out). We would SO win.
September 8, 200520 yr ya what mac said for the most part is true theres a lot of skill also what does your field allow (in terms of full auto, burst, ect) and what game speedball or woods if its woods id look more for a quality tougher gun for speedball depends on how comptetive you want to be and who you play against skill is very important and you wont really need a new gun for a while but in speedball the gun is still very important (i know i know skil skill skill) but two evenly matched teams one shooting 35bps per person vs tippman 98 theres a difference but your not at that level so dont worry for your first gun you just want somthing that will work you dont want to be playing and have constant problems the tippman 98 really fits that role ive had mine for 2-3years never had a problem got my ion had a few problems but easy to fix for somone that knows paintball guns not so for sombody that doesnt but its definelty worth it for me
September 8, 200520 yr I challenge you and one of your sons to go up against me and my dad, speedball style! no no bunkering rules! =0
September 8, 200520 yr would this be a good deal then? That would be a nice setup to start with, a few things you wouldn't need are in it, though, like gloves, and 2 hoppers. Otherwise, it looks nice. My personal suggestion is (and always will be) to go down to the local paintball shop. They'll set you up with a great beginner's kit, for about $200. Easily. Plus, you say something like "Man, I just spent $200 at your store, and I've got nothing to shoot with!" and you'll get free paintballs. Guaranteed.
September 8, 200520 yr would this be a good deal then? good gun not a fan of the flatline but thats a personel choice some people love it some people hate it i personal use gloves in speedball you usally get shot in the gun, arm, hands, face and the only one of those that hurts is the hands and getting shot in the hands hurt specially up close id stop by the local field and see if anyone has one for sale since almost everyone has a tipmman lying around you still havent said if you play speedbal, woodsball or both
September 8, 200520 yr Author so far speedball, but im gonna check out a woods one near me soon. problem is in the bay area you cant really go out to someones property to play, you gotta find a field
September 8, 200520 yr NO go on that Flatlines are not too good. Do not worry about the gun. We need to hear what you are going to play.
September 8, 200520 yr if you play speedball the tippman is gonna give you less trouble but a gun like a spyder is gonna shoot faster but than you have to worry about taking care of it and fixing any problems kinda becomes a personal choice than
September 8, 200520 yr Author what is a good barrel upgrade for the 98? that is probly the one i will get either used through the field bulitan board, or from big 5 or the net
September 8, 200520 yr Well if you are going to play speed ball more than anything. I would not go with a tippman. I would get a double finger trigger type gun. I would not buy from E-bay either. There are good places online to buy new stuff reasonable and locally I am sure. If I had my choice I would do this. Get an inexpensive Spyder/Rodeo for say $80 with electronic trigger if possible. Get a Smart Parts Teardrop Barrel for $50. Then get a compressed air system (steel tank if need be to save money). CO2 suxors but it works. Air is way better and you can get a better gun later and just put the parts on that you already have. There is NO reason to go all out and get something that you do not need. I would also get a Good mask with thermal lenses to avoid fogging up. Spyder/Rodeo Teardrop Compressed air tank Thermal lense mask. I can guarantee that the above system works well. I have shot them many a time. My friend at work has 2 of these setups. They went to compressed air for all year playability and consistency which aids in accuracy.
September 8, 200520 yr Spyders/Rodeos are not that problematic unless you shoot thousands of balls ever month. In Vermont when I was on Vacation for two weeks. We went through 16,000 balls. Only 3 barrel breaks. Not too shabby. Considering the cheap guns and all. There was a Spyder and a Rodeo present. The only gun to malfunction was the older Tippman Prolite. It needed a main seal after I dont know how many years.
September 8, 200520 yr if you do get that one i would recomend a halo-B electronic hopper... or a q-loader system.... if your looking for one that's more realistic like m16 mp5 style or basically ne wepon check out these sites... if u need ne help with ur gun let me kno... lata (W9) http://www.specialopspaintball.com/shop/index.asp http://www.rustyspaintballgear.com http://www.rap4.com http://www.pbreview.com/products/reviews/3135/
September 8, 200520 yr actually i would skip the loader your really not gonna start out shooting a revy for a while and when you start shooting that much paint your probably gonna want a better gun too a revy for 30$ would be fine no need for 100$+ loader
September 8, 200520 yr OK I dont know what everyone else suggested because Im not going to read 50 posts right now. But heres the laydown on what I know First and foremost if you EVER EVER EVER buy a Brass Eagle gun (besides maybe a Tigershark) then the devil will eat your soul. Never buy Brass Eagle. OK. Tippmann - Sturdy and reliable. Virtually indestuctable. Tippmann 98: probably THE Most easily customized gun in the whole sport....and the most used. Tippmann Pro-Carbine: Aaah, my baby. The Pro-Carbine. Upgrades are much harder to find, but I got one because I dont like to blend in with the crowd and conform to everyone else when it comes to Paintball. Its got a good rifle feel, if you like that feel. Tippmann A-5: Ummmm dont get one unless you just LOOVE the way they look. All you are getting for the extra $100 is a cyclone feed thing which you dont need because you can just get an electro hopper for half that much....and you dont need one of those unless you have a response trigger (response triggers fire when you pull the trigger and when it goes back to the regular position I do believe). Umm....if I ever buy another gun I am getting a Phantom. They are pump guns and I have been in love with them for years. Probably the most accurate gun around. Plus I just love playing with pumps because it is a lot more of a challenge. Oh yeah ------------------------Upgrades!!! -------------------- The first thing you want to get in the way of upgrades is a new barrell. Doesnt matter what gun you get. New barrells are important. J&J Ceramic is probably the best budget barrell you can buy. Otherwise I donno. Stock: You dont need to buy a stock. Just buy a butt plate for your CO2 and save money, cuz if you get a stock you have to get a remote system, and remote systems have hoses that get caught on sticks and such. Annoying. Red Dot Sight/scope: Not unless you just want it for looks. Otherwise forget about it. Thats my 50 cents.
