I voted Yes, because it's just such a fun game. Great models, beautiful maps, and the new little weapon addons are cool.

Well I would say IT ROCKS except my FPS never goes above 10 if I am around other people firing guns or if I fire a gun at someone.....sooo....donno

I think that was happening to everyone sneaky. After they fix some of this kinks it should be great.

I got DOD:S for $10 cuz i got the bronze package for free from my old ATI card, then upgraded to Silver (with DOD:S) for $10 :p

 

But yeah, I love it, worth $20

I have mixed feelings about how DOD:S turned out.

It does look amazing in HDR, and the quality of work is outstanding for all of the visual aspects to the game..

 

The only 2 beefs I have against DOD:S are these.

 

#1. The subguns are messed up pretty bad, their accuracy is horrible, and their rates of fire are jacked up so that they're mini famas's, just spray machines more than anything else, and thats not how they were in DOD-1.

 

#2. Player movement seems bjorked, players can strafe and move alot faster in DOD-S than old dod, and maybe even faster than you can move around in HL2DM, or cs. Players seem to appear out of nowhere, and zigzaging is horrendous. Its also hard to line a shot up on anything thats not standing still, because of the way that the players move.

 

There is no acceleration/deceleration to the movement, making it jerky and like everyone is lagging.

 

Besides those 2 things, I was overly impressed with the game and the new features that have changed since DOD-1, and the maps are amazing now since being totally reworked and made into familiar yet updated and still play out as well if not better than they did for DOD-1.

 

I don't mind paying the $20 dollars for it, as long as they are willing and able to update the game to adress the issues that come up. I honestly can't wait to see the FG-42 and the G-43 come back into the game.

 

Concidering how hard it was to get into any of the (1500?) servers that went up moments after the release, even late into today. I think valve just made a buttload of $$$ to pay the DOD guys to keep it going for a while.

The accuracy of ALL of the guns I think are near the same as before in dod. It's just the recoil that they have upped alot. I don't mind it, I can still own with the smgs short-medium distances, they're no way you could use it in long distances, it's an smg ffs.

 

Mister, it seems laggy because it was just released last night =p. The servers would lag and the pings didn't go up even by one, it was just steam trying to handle everyone on at once making so many servers and stuff. I actually like the movement, the gameplay seems faster, which is better, imo.

i dig it,and i voted yes.cuz it's got a good feel to it.it's got the source look and feel,faster pace then ccs,better looking then f-a.the weapons and sounds kick butt.and the maps look sweet.plus i was getting kinda bored with bf2,so it's nice to have a new fps game to play in between me trying to get my next unlock(in like 5 months :p )
i will not pay $20 for a game i dont even know if i like. the original wasnt all that good, so i just ended up voting "i havent played it yet".

I voted yes, the iron sights are a blessing in disguise. In old dod almost everyone would argue over the balances between the kar and the garand where the garend would take 2 shots to kill someone even if hit in the chest, and the kar would kill in one shot no matter where hit, add ontop of that the kar has the same ROF as the garand in old dod and that the garand had high recoil. Now in dod:s the dev's fixed this by adding irons sights to both rifles making them both one shot kill weapons (useing the iron sights). And both rifles will only kill in one shot with out the iron sights if you hit them in the chest/head.

 

I think it's a perfect idea and it works great. It cuts down on the amount of rushers and give rifles a purpose in the game, that being an advantage over the auto's at long range, which is how it should be but never was. The bazooka's have been given a much need improvment such as the carbine being the secondary weapon for the bazooka rather than just a crapy pistol with very little extra ammo, and the bazooka's do much more splash damage then before and are more accurate. However the submachine guns do need work and i think the heavier weapons (BAR/STG44) should be more powerful. And the machineguns are suppose to be rail guns, they always have been.

 

The best part of dod:s are the sounds, they are just fantastic.

once someone figures out the rate/graphics optimization and has a cfg for it this game will get lots better since nothing was registering, sniper rifles rock more than the old game tho

All I have heard is SMG = teh sux. NO **** SHERLOCK. They are innacurate at far range, and they Thompson has a recoil like a mofo. Ever fired a Thompson? Obviously not. You cannot control that gun IRL like you could in original DOD. The Burp Gun? Maybe, but unlikely. Here is a little experiment for you: Go out and shoot a fully automatic SMG at a target 100 yards away on full auto, and tell me how many out of your clip hit the target, then come back and argue. Valve has, and always will, go for realism in DoD. And I honestly think the game is incredible, never before have I felt like an actual part of a battle.

 

My Beefs:

1. The ironsights on the rifles suck. What's the point if your gun is just as accurate with the regular crosshair?

2. Missing Guns: The M3 Grease Gun, the Semi-Auto Nazi Rifle (Forgot name), and why the hell is the M1 Carbine a secondary weapon? I LOVED THAT GUN IN DOD! NOW IT HAS 2 CLIPS! WTF?!

3. MG's: People whine about them too much. Go get shot by one and see how fast you die.

4. GL's: I like my nades well done! KTHXBAI! P.S. If you don't get that, go outside and shoot yourself in the head.

5. Avalanche: Anyone else tired of that map?

 

The other 3 maps are fun as hell. But until more maps are added and they make the M1 Carbine a primary weapon, I'll jsut have to be a bazooka ****!

way wrong it's feels better than even f-a rushing out and blasting smg's.

 

it's not very hard to hit your targets,just aim.and spary like nutz :p

 

so far it's my very fav. weapon to use.although the shovels pretty fun too :p

Firstly, I agree with you on the Thompson.

 

Secondly, people are whining about all of these new improvements because they aren't the same as they were in DoD. Rofl yeah some people are really damn stupid. THIS IS A NEW GAME YOU IDIOTS.

 

About the Ironsights, they DO improve you accuracy, ALOT. The ironsights will hit exactly on where you point them, and your regular crosshair will not.

 

The Missing guns, they were taken out because the DoD:s team said they needed to take some out, atleast they didn't take the good weapons away.

 

Oh and instead of the 'Semi-Auto Nazi Rifle' for the bazooka class, they get that wickedly awesome Automatic Machine-Gun Pistol.

 

Okay, you say you want to cook your grenade launcher? Rofl. If they allowed you to do that, everyone would be using the Rifleman and use it as a bazooka. So NO COOK FOR U!

 

And Avalanche does seem a bit boring now, it's the exact same map, why didn't they add any new paths? :p But hopefully the maps they are going to release in the future will have new paths and improvements to it than in DoD.
