September 29, 200520 yr Through out the weeks I have been playing on the server a lot, and one thing I have noticed is that the map cycle kills the server or at least comes really close to it. Maybe another re-work of the cycle could be arranged and maybe the removal of some maps would be in order. Anyone elses thoughts?
September 29, 200520 yr what is the current cycle? server killers are: clean sweep, kubra, zatar that i can think of now. good cycle would be: oman karkand shaquri mashtur dragon valley china maps just arent that good
September 29, 200520 yr The most popular servers seem to be City map servers and they also usually throw in Oman. The big server killers I have seen are Zatar Wetlands (I freaking hate as well as do others) and clean sweep to some extent. There is another one that is kind of a toss up..I think it is called dragon valley. The usa has a carrier and a dock spawn at the start. I think that is the one...I get it and another one mixed up all the time.
September 29, 200520 yr I think we should start the map cycle with karkand to draw people into the server, and I have to say, dragon valley does not seem to be a very popular map, we usually lose 5-10 players when that map comes up. I also would suggest changing sharqi to the 64 player map size ala the wss server. That map with 40 players and the extra control point is about the most fun that can be had in BF2, imo.
September 29, 200520 yr Yes, I agree deli. I know city maps, although some have uncappable points, are still more popular then almost any other maps.
September 29, 200520 yr what about dalian point? as well i think daquing oilfields is a good map as well.
September 29, 200520 yr Well, I was on the server a good bit last night, and it stayed pretty full through 2 rounds of the cycle, and they were all pretty good battles until 10 pm. I say leave it as is.. :peace: TFD
September 29, 200520 yr Is there anyway to see the current cycle? At times it seems rather short (e.g. not all BF2 maps being played) I like all maps, they all have their pros and cons and I think diversity is much better than playing 24/7 the same few maps. And I do like Kubra Dam that's a fun map :peace: as well as Clean sweep and Zatar Wetlands they are nice and different form most other maps... ...as for them being server killers not sure you mean performance or players? Because I've played on plenty servers that where full on these maps before :peace: But that's just me [DIAL]Doc

September 29, 200520 yr I think we should start the map cycle with karkand to draw people into the server, and I have to say - Moved Karkland to the top of the list :peace: dragon valley does not seem to be a very popular map, we usually lose 5-10 players when that map comes up. - It's normal to see 5-10 players drop on map change for any map. I like Dragon Valley, as I think it is laid out nicely. I know others may think it stinks, but there are others who like it. When players drop, others will connect based off of a map search because they like a particular map. We should monitor the server and pay special attention to see what is disliked. Maybe even ask players in-game how they like a particular map :peace: I also would suggest changing sharqi to the 64 player map size ala the wss server. That map with 40 players and the extra control point is about the most fun that can be had in BF2, imo. - I changed Sharqi to 64-player mode. Lets see how it plays...
September 29, 200520 yr Author In my "tired rage?" last night i said some stuff that was pretty vague and didnt explain exactly what I ment by some of the things I said. INMO I hate every China map for two reasons (1. way to damn big and not enough rides anywhere, 2. they become very boring because your wakling/running everywhere) I dont mind Zetar Wetlands, probibly becasue I dont play it enough to nit-pick it to death. Clean Sweep is a toss-up for me I have had some pretty intense fights and some extremely boring ones. It all depends on who is playing and how things are going. Well that is my rant plus i better stop whining befor Gator bans me from the server permanently. :peace:

September 29, 200520 yr how can you hate Daqing Oilfields? or Dalian Plant? those are the two Chinese maps that i really love. i hate Dragon Valley on 32 size. it just doesnt take advantage of all the air that it has... oh and FuShe Pass is horrend(o?)us(MY SPELLING IS FADING NOOOO)...but aside from that.. not much else i can really think of :/
September 29, 200520 yr daquing oil fields is a classic run around in a circle capping flags. you get a flag, leave, it gets taken, get the next one, leave it gets taken. the map isnt structured with a focal point where the two sides are funneled into each other for a main conflict area. Dalien plant isnt bad, i wouldnt have objections to that put on the server
September 29, 200520 yr thats why i love Daqing....plus its great for the bombing/missile runs...which reminds me, can someone teach me how to bomb? everytime i do, i miss :/
