Posted October 4, 200520 yr i downloaded the patch, then I joined a game to try it out... first two kills i get it promotes me to "Corporal" and then "Sergeant" just for killing two people...pretty neato.. :cool:
October 4, 200520 yr Yeah, that's what I hear. Apparently it's either a screw-up or they made it WAYYY easy to get ranks now.

October 4, 200520 yr what happened was they changed the ammount of global points needed to rank up. therefore in your case you had enough points to rank up twice. it just doesnt update till you score points. if that makes sense.

October 4, 200520 yr not accurate I'm at 5,986, and I got ranked up to Staff Seargeant it's apprently even lower than that I think they should've put down each rank by half (corpral=5000 instead of 10) and that would've been good enough. Basicall, you can get to lance corpral in 5 rounds now

October 5, 200520 yr yeah, im not liking this massive reduction. Granted, I think totals needed to be reduced and officer ranks added, but now its kind of ludicrously easy. Looks like the servers will be jammed with Gunnys in no time now, determing comm will no longer be as much skill based (since you obviously needed some to get better ranks in the old system)
October 5, 200520 yr looks like they changed it to make it more realistic. i got 4 promotions after 2 kills and a cap
October 5, 200520 yr Yep, I am staff sergeant now and I was working toward Corporal and now the incentive is gone because I have 4 unlocks LOL.

October 5, 200520 yr It looks like EA is wanting to make people less interested in playing this game so they will buy the expansion pack... wouldn't be the first time this has happened... I'm surprised they don't introduce a bunch of fun-killing gameplay changes at the same time, like Novalogic did with Joint Ops....

October 5, 200520 yr yeah, you just know theyre gonna pull some crap like that Carl. its rediculous... i mean, i played this game so much just because it was a challenge to getting promoted.. now its all so easy. :[! i think this is a sign that i need to do more homework and less gameplaying... ! now i dont really like BF2 much...the lust for battle and a challenge is gone.
October 6, 200520 yr I think it's fine. Harder for Commanders to get those really high winning round scores, but still helps team and gets points if not kills registered from arty. Not having to wait very long time for next unlock for those of us that can't play all the time, seems more incentive to me. Spec Ops taking out enemy commander toys of uav trailor, radar scanner, arty ... now getting well earned points gives me more incentive to keep doing that to try to help team.
