October 5, 200520 yr I just bought the game, installed and downloaded the new patch today. When i try to connect all i get is a message from EA. When i click to open it, it says page not displayed. Help me please. I finally broke down and bought the game and i'm already getting a headache.

Numerous possibilities ... 1-firewall software popping up underneath asking to allow game conect permission ? 2-restart pc after done installing 3-restart pc after done patching I'm about to try patch install so we repost. tiger just did. she got firewall popup. gave permission. but can't connect . gets message "server has refused connection". i'll look in minute.
October 5, 200520 yr figured out tiger's prob... my firewall software is set like hers to popup warnings ontop of all other windows, be sure yours is. if not possible, try alt-tab to look for pop-ups in background tasks. she had given permission to firewall pop-up to allow bf2.exe net access ALWAYS, as i did. weird thing worth noting is she after she got the server error message from bf2 trying to login with account, she closed game and saw no pop-up but firewall task bar icon flashing. clicking it for details revealed default block of trojan attempt. i entered her firewall internet program enabled list. found 3 referances to bf2.exe that said enabled. i removed each. then added the bf2.exe. set it for permit, general, automatic. she now logged in no probs. something seems to have tried to enter her address thru bf2 account login attempt. this automatically disables that internet address for 30 minutes. maybe i cleared that by removing and re-adding the bf2.exe to permit list. she playing now. as will i. hope this helps you and others. ps. disabling antivirus will speed up entering server and loading map if you impatient. but i used "renderer.drawfps 1" in bf2 console to see fps and saw no more fps with antivirus off. cheers
October 5, 200520 yr Author I got on and played in the server. I couldn't get Wolfey so, I'm now known as wolfyReborn. lol Anyways i'm not impressed right now. I'm sure once i get the hang of it, i'll like it better. I went 0-0 with 4 deaths the first time. Second time i was -4 for -4 YIKES!. Anyways, eversince the update on Ventrillo, i cant get on that either. Could someone place a help file again on ventrillo for me. I'm having a hard time connecting. Oh i saw Klink and Flipster on the server but i'm not sure they knew who i was. lol.. Do i put the TAC tags on, or just leave them off? I just saw the ventrillo tutorial, i'll try that and see if i can get on.
October 5, 200520 yr Ya put the =TAC= prefix on when you play. Good for you finaly getting something you can play with again. We missed you. The first set of points is combat points and the second is teamwork then kills then deaths. You'll get the swing of it in no tiime, took me a while too.

October 6, 200520 yr Wolfey I found that BF2 ( I only played the demo ) isnt really much fun unless you are commander or in a good squad, but then it is really fun.
October 6, 200520 yr If you don't join an already created squad, preferring to lone-wolf it a bit, atleast create your own squad so you can request supplies (more ammo and health box) from commander in a safe easy air drop place. The creator of squad is squad leader who ca nrequest stuff from commander like arty, etc.
