Lag Help? Maybe?

I read this in the BF2 forums, so I thought I would pass it along...

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies

by changing the file extension from .bik to .bak (backup). You won't see the movies anymore, but you will gain over 200MB of RAM, because BF2 loads everything it can into memory. When it runs out of memory it has to page your harddrive, which is quite slow in comparison.

Running XP? Google for unnecessary XP services and follow the instructions. XP is pretty bloated for the normal user.

nice, i will have to try that
i just removed these files completely from the directory, but i did keep them for just in case...seems to load up a lot quicker even though i did remove the startup movies a while ago...

TANKS !! :( That helped speed up the loading and getting into server. By maybe 1/2 minute less, as well as antivirus off. i already had determined no antivirus speeded this up, with no diff to in game fps though. freeing up that ram gets me in faster. made no diff to in-game fps that i've noticed. but it is ok around 10-20 as long as ping stays ok near 100 or better. :peace:

i still think contrary to what some have said, that pushing video card more for 75 fps refresh rate instead of minimum 60, will mean less in-game fps as i think but they think i not lose fps with 75. ???
