SWAT is a beta tester for 1.2... just so you all know.

doh, i think you might have to create an account D:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just note that I posted in this thread all the changes in the patch from the link steveO posted. If those that don't want to read the entire thread that has some responses that have nothing to do with the patch.- TigerHawk

nice find. one of the beta testers for the 1.2 patch explains about the changes in-game.

from what he's been saying they are really nerfing air vehicles. I feel bad for all the rookie pilots (Gator...lol j/k) rockets lock on alot better now, no more hard turning and locked on rockets project else where. GLA's are alot more affective, 2 missles take down any bird. choppers go down with a tank round and a few gun shots. YaY no more attack helo's dominating the ground!!!!! all the infantry weapons improved accuracy.

Im worried, this upcomming patch might kill BF2 for me, for good... :p
you dont have to register, just mark the check boxes that say you read the bit about not using racial slurs/etc and hit submit.
It would be nice if you cut and past the post, so we all don't have to register.

Thanks :p

As Baldrik stated check the boxes and click submit. There are 5 pages to that thread, so copy and paste is out of the question.

Unless you only use jets or grenade launchers, which you shouldn't be, then it won't

this is bringing the game to what it should be. Now the true skill in the air will show.

Thanks ;)

Ok. Just for you ;)

AA kills air in 2 hits. Rockets actually kill people now. AA missiles aren't slow anymore, and actually hit what they shoot at. MG's are SOOOO accurate now. L85a1 is basically a new sniper rifle (its way boosted).

Patch includes P90 as the new AT weapon and l96 as the new sniper weapon.

UAV's actually appear in game, you can shoot them down and end the overflight.

Mines are more sensitive now.

Sniper rifles are more accurate.

All guns are more accurate across the board.

TOW's are more powerful.

TV missiles are still 1 hit kills, but harder to aim.

All air are MUCH easier to fly, helicopters are much easier to hover and move exactly how you want, (although SF helos have a tendency to move).

Jets are easier to fly.

Basically if a couple people get in the AA guns, basically Air is wiped off the map.

Oh and the biggest announcement of all: I heard from a DICE representative who was in the testing TS that they'll be adding in Scout helicopters (he didn't say but I'm assuming either Little Birds or Kiowa Warriors) that act like UAVs, but are easy to shoot down.

C4 takes longer to throw. You really can't bunny hop (well you can but you can't shoot).

Crouch-teabagging is removed too incidentally, as a result of the anti-DD changes.

GL's are useless at short range, but they're still deadly at medium range (basically if you can fire a 3rd burst and hit with all the bullets, your too close for grenades, but beyond that its ok.)

Dolphin diving is gone.

I have to say though: as powerful as AA is, if you're a chopper pilot, your rockets are so much better now....you just have to hit near an enemy (a squad standing around near each other will entirely die to a strafing run of rockets). APC's only take like 2 or 3 rockets to kill, probably 3, tanks are like 4 or 5.

Questions

What do you mean when you say mines are more sensitive? Do you mean they explode from further away? Because I don't recall my mines ever failing to go off when a vehicle drove over them.

Also, does this apply to claymores or just AT mines?

Can you still throw AT mines on tanks and have them explode when the tanks move?

Just to be sure, the new AA is also effective against jets, right? I'm not a jet pilot but I heard that, in their current state, you can avoid AA 100% of the time without flares just by turning hard. Is this no longer possible in the new patch?

Do choppers go down in one tank shot?

Does the M95 still have thick crosshairs?

You said TOWs are more powerful, what about the SRAW/Eryx?

Answers

1. I haven't played with mines, I'm repeating what I heard.

2. See above.

3. Yes.

4. Oh hell yes. Turning won't save you now. Your god will not save you now.

5. We tested this. Choppers Go immediately into red with 1 tank shot (attack choppers.) After that 1 bullet of any kind, even a pistol, will start it burning and it will blow up. So if you're in a tank and you hit it with a single MG round it will start burning and blow. If it's taken more than a little damage it will probably blow straight up.

6. The horizontal is still grossly thick. Verticle isn't so bad. I don't use the m95, and in this version neither should you as the m24 is SO much better. Hell, even the SVDs are better.

7. I don't think so, but I didn't play extensively with them yet.

engineers are a little improved but not my playing style. mp7 is WAYYYYYYYY Better. 40 rd. clip, slightly slower (about speed of the helicopter guns) does less damage per shot, but is more accurate (with the iron sights it is a laser, but that doesn't help if one shot only takes off like 2 or 3 bars health.)

so any idea on how close to release it is then?

Answer

Actually I don't. They are still working out the bugs (some of the minimap issues are weird, there are some glitches with the fix on tank terrain damage etc.).

I've heard end of january, first of february etc. I'm under the impression that the Xpack is coming out Feb. 8, and judging from past history, the patch usually precedes the X pack by about 4 days, give or take 2.

Information on the bf2c website however, seems to suggest that it may be as early as monday. We just don't know.

That's pretty much what's in that thread, unless I missed something.

doh ;) . i am NOT one of the "true skilled ones" that you speak of D:
hmm, I might have to give this game another shot.

those changes sound great to me.

its ok to see you back pun. I agree the changes do sound good. It almost sounds like another FA game though. Improved accuract of the guns! LOL!!! I still don't like how you can't jump and shoot and the same time. Yahoo for EA taking short-cuts. If they can make this game, i'm sure they can make so you can still jump and shoot, but with just a huge accuracy decrease.

hey pun, good to see you again. ;)

You missed this one:

Too late to see the UAV. You say that if you crash a VODNIK into it you'll die? How the hell could you crash a vodnik into a a freaking airplane? lol

What, you've never driven the flying assault vodnik before? N00b

I would love to drive a Flying Assault Vodnik.;)
