January 19, 200619 yr I was talking to an upperclassmen the other day at the University Union (the center of campus) between classes and somehow we got to discussing country music. He asked me if I liked the genre, and I replied with a laugh and strong no. Curious, I returned the same question. He said the music was growing on him, since he had been going into town to line dance. I kind of just stared at him thinking wilco tango foxtrot. He chuckled and explained that it was a great way to pick up women. These line dancing events are dominated by women from campus and they love it when guys show up. He said that women kept calling him to come since he had shown up a few times. All he had to do was try to line dance, listen to country music, and dance with hot women. The plan could not fail. He said I should drop by sometime and try it. So when I got back to the dorms, I figured I'd listen to some country music off people's itunes. That was yesterday...I'm still listening to it. I think...I think...I like country music. Line dancing next? What is happening to me? I want to go back to NorCal.
January 19, 200619 yr Just use it like the Wedding Crashers. Rock is good. Rap is Bad Country is full of good musicians and ok music.
January 19, 200619 yr I like all kinds of music, as long as it sounds good to me. I do like the plan you spoke of though ...go for it...
January 19, 200619 yr i actually do like country...my dad listens to it all the time and it grew on me. it actually talks about real situations and if u actually get past the stereotypes it has some real meaning. and country was the beginning of many other types of music if u look at it. rock wouldnt exist without country

January 19, 200619 yr Yea, I listen to alot of different genres.. As far as country, I'm more of a "modern" country guy with a few "old" country artists I like such as Johnny Cash...
January 19, 200619 yr The only reason you are starting to like it is 'cause you want to get more .... ya know Think of it this way, you don't have to talk while dancing with or without the lights.

January 20, 200619 yr See, the new country out now is more of a Pop-country. Its not too bad, I hate the sappy grown men crying over women country, its annoying, grow a pair and tell her like it is, and be a man about it for Christ's sake. I like all music, but I guess I'm just bitter over this divorce thing.
January 20, 200619 yr I was drunk the day mama got out of prison, and I went to pick her up in the rain. And befooor I could get the station in my pickup truck, she got ran over by a danged ol train!

January 26, 200619 yr Sharpshooter6 : I would not listen to country driving my city bus as I already have trouble keeping my eyes open late at night even with the toothpicks holding my upper eyelids up and my fave classic rock from 70's-80's on radio. But the setting you describe would likely be good for the following reasons : 1- music not so loud you don't have to shout across table or even dancing to talk and strain to hear talk. 2- easier to get to know people since easier to talk about what they "do", like to do and don't. 3- less boring like in loud rock bar where some find it hard to do more then sit at table and shake head to music and nod pretendance of understanding what someone other side of table is saying. 4- less boredom and more interaction with line dancing and maybe stuff on side like pool, shuffleboard, darts, bull, etc . 5- depends what you want to "go for" ... your preferred music ... easy atmosphere to talk and get to know people ... have other options besides sitting or dancing in blaring music ... Seems a good idea to try atleast once in awhile.
