January 25, 200620 yr Well I watched it. And the Helos are beleivable now. People need to think about things before they judge something. The AT rocket is in fact, and ANTI-TANK rocket. It is MADE to penetrate the thick armor of a TANK. Helo's are made from pretty thin materials and yes, small arms fire WILL penetrate one. The game does not have a true to life deal of what area's are going to take a helo down. IRL if you disable the rotors, or change the areodynamics of the helo, it IS going down. Its alot more realistic and there wont be soo many heli pilots pretending to rule the sky's with the new patch. I like it. M203- absolutely LOVE it, thats the way it should be C4 tossing. Sure, its still SORT of there, but if you notice the C4 didn't go quite as far as it used to, AND he was on the ground before he could detonate it. This should nerf some of the C4 spammers, not to mention they're not done testing. They may have not completely finished with the tuning of the C4, however you cannot allow med pack and ammo tossing without allowing C4 tossing. Its just a matter of balancing WHEN it can be detonated. I'd like to see it have to be on the ground, or an object before exploding though, instead of the grenade like tossing they showed in the video. UAV, loving the new rendered UaV. The fact you can shoot it down is cool, but I dont see it happening too many times, cause you saw the way he had to do it. Sure, a few clips did the job, but how many times do you have the time before getting shot to stand in a circle and shoot almost straight up? I tried it in single player tonight, just standing in a circle at the same angle, or close to, that was in the video. It wont be as simple as it looks. Most mounted machine guns dont go that high, and most ground troops will be killed in the time it took to shoot it down. So far the patch STILL looks awesomeness.
January 25, 200620 yr When you fire at helos while they are unoccupied they are easier to destroy (hitpoint wise). They are a different story in the air. The C4 thing is a little concerning.....although it didn't travel as far. The UAV thing is a good touch....although you willl probably not have a lot of time to shoot one down. Finally, the new grenade launcher fix....nice

I used to have a video that showed live video with the pilots engaging targets. They did even hear the chopper, and were vaporized. Period. I belive the C4 issue will be resolved before they release it. They have openly stated so, and the head manager stated the the C4 was an obvious "exploit". The problem here is that the exploiters are making a big stink over the issue. Glad to see the 203 fixed, so I don't have to listen to all the damn whining about it. But the problem here is that there will be another weapon that everyone will whine about, so which one will it be? Any bets?

IRL, yes, however it doesnt change the fact that small arms fire will still penetrate the skin of a cobra. If I was allowed to take pics when I was in the sandbox I'd have proof. But, yes, under normal combat situations, there is no way a ground troop will even see the helo before its too late.

January 28, 200620 yr Author new bit of info from a german interview: Will the Boosterpacks include new, Boosterpack exclusive unlockable weapons? And if so, can they be used on BF2/BF2:SF Servers once unlocked? No, the Booster Packs will not contain any exclusive unlockables. However two of the new Euroforce weapons will round out the Special Forces unlocks so that when you play sniper or Anti-tank you are not short changed. The Boosterpacks will be downloable through the EA Downloader. How big will the download for both Boosterpacks be in Megabytes and how many "official" Server will be running in Europe/US on the date of release? It is too early to say how large the Booster Packs will be. We are currently making sure there will be enough ranked servers that will run the Euro Force maps. Do you think there will be future upgrades for the both Boosterpacks, or will there be "just" another Boosterpacks, which doesn´t needs to have BP#1 or #2 to be installed? Future patches will always be compatible with all parts of BF2, which will include SF and both Booster Packs. The Boosters are a new way to expand BF2 and are well integrated into the original game unlike the Special Forces that run separately. Therefore patches and upgrades will affect the Boosters as well. An often asked question in our forums has been, "Why should I buy the BP´s, when there so many promising mods are close to release?" The Booster Packs contain official maps that will be in the map rotation lists on ranked servers. We are happy to see that there are so many mods out there, but currently there is no support for them on ranked servers. We do however encourage people to try different mods, since they are an important part of our community.
