<note: T.O. is my lab supervisor>

T.O.: "(out of the blue) So, we're you thinking what you will be doing after graduation?"

Me: "Yes, i would like to go for PhD."

T.O.: "Where?"

Me: "Here (that is in IET) if at all possible."

T.O.: "How about Ireland?"

Me: "<awkward silence>"

It seems i need to aplly sometime in the next month and see if they award me a scholarship there. But, hell yeah, it's and excellent opportunity.

Plus: 1500Euro for starters to spend on a new computer :)

Minus: The situation is speeding up and i am falling behind.

Wow! Good deal man, which university?

From what i've read it will depend on what research topic will i propose. It is not an only-for-me offer. It is a general scholarship program, that is being funded by Irish Ministry of Science and Technology (or whatever is that body called). It is aimed for post-graduate students from all over EU. 150 research scholarships are to be handed out + 100 industry offers. There are qualifications of course and i bet the competition will be high.

I just don't get one thing: my wife and me have tried and failed to explain him that he could go anywhere he wished. He always said 'no' and the bottom line was: 'who's gonna wash and iron my clothes?' but now I see different approach.

GL, bro.

You'd better think of Japan or Switzerland.

Japan will have to wait. :) You know, i was swayed to try it ONLY for those 1500Euro on a computer :)
Ireland is the 2nd most beautiful country in the world (after Scotland). The only thing you should be wary about is the sectarianism, which sadly still lingers over the country,

Hehehe....

so... here i am, writing a long letter to the supervisor... awaiting a reply while biting my nails... and then... i get a mail containing these cheerfull words:

I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

and

Sender address rejected: Sorry - your email has been blocked by our anti-spam configuration. To unblock your email, please register

I am surprised my heart is still in one piece.

I'm guessing besides picking a topic good to them, you are better off saying what they like to hear. ;) :peace:

I hope not.

I will write an update on the matter soon.
