Just took my 6 yr. old shep to the vet BAD BAD BAD hip problems, panis of the eyes, and deep pyroderma, plus yeast infection in ear from antibiotics. So, $473.00 later she is home. I really thought she was a goner with the hips. she has had panis and pyroderma for over a year now, but she couldn't even get up today. I took the whole day off to be with her. i think i'm moping more than she is. All she has done is lay down, all day. :p Seeing as i don't have children, i consider her my only child. Couldn't ask for a nicer dog. i just am hoping i don't have to put her down. :)
ya my dog is getting pretty old but she great. just as bones said...theres plenty more years with her :p
with the yeast infection just take some cue tips and the cream that will kill yeast and just clean it out once a day and ur dog should feal beter
Do what you can to help her get and feel better. Car rides might perk her up if lots of interesting stuff to her to see and smell. :p

Well, the joint and pain meds are looking like they are making her feel better. she seems to be perky. Vet said i should notice a difference in 4 - 5 days. the ear is still giving her fits, but the new med is helping a little bit. gotta just give everything some time to kick in. I think she is enjoying the extra attention / babying she's getting. lol i had to work all day today, so i couldn't spoil her. :) but, i'll be home at 5PM. thanks for all the encouragement guys. I really love this dog. she's the best thing i have, and also my adoring child. i've never had good luck with dogs. My other dog died at 7yrs on me. i'm shooting over 10 on this one. :p

Sorry to hear about your poochey wolfey. Hope she gets better very soon.

I'm just curious, but do you dress her up in pink dresses and red bows? :p

Hey Wolfy,

I have a German Shepherd also. She's four years old and is one of the best dogs we've ever owned. They are so smart and seem to understand everything you say to them. Our Shepherd has had a food allergy ever since she was a puppy, so we have to cook all her food for her every week. That's quite a chore, but she's well worth it. I'm so sorry that your dog is sick. Hope she feels better really fast.

No, the only thing i've ever done is put reindeer antlers and a santa hat on her. No dresses or bows. Yuck!

Anyway, i came home after 5pm to find her running up to the door to greet me. She is much more lively , and has more energy. It was well worth the $500 to patch her up. I have my best friend back. :p

heh, my 11yr old toy poodle, Mandy, has cataracts and my mom believes she has diabetes. shes getting old and i dont know what id do without her. same with my 3 year old golden retriever, i dont know what id do without him either. he has a skin allergy and breaks out in "hot spots", which are gooey spots that form and then his hairs falls out from them, from time to time. i hope your dog will feel better Wolfey. i know what its like to be close to your pets.

Wolfy...as I don't know you all that well, all I can really say is "I'm sorry"...but...I have a pOOch story of my own...kinda a tear jerker...

I had a Carin Terrier named "Bandit". He went everywhere with me...Loved car rides. As he grew older in age (about 10 yrs) I wasn't able to take him anymore...that hurt a lil' but I still could see him at home. He wasn't doing well...and had many probs...

One night, I came home late (about 2 am) and said my nightly " g'night" to him. 30 min later, he passed away.

I can tell you this...He loved me as much as I loved him....and waited for me to come home and say good night before he passed. If the unthinkable happens (you should have at least 5 more years :p ) just remember...You will always have those fond memories of your pooch...and that itself is worth the time and effort. I still miss Bandit, but I know that it was his time...

I hope you have at least another 5 years with yours (as I did with mine) to make all those memories worth while  :)

Rockett

I just read this and thought oh no  but as I read on and read good news that your dog is doing better now. I hope your dog will recover and be all better :peace: .

Thanks for all the positive thoughts guys. / gals. she really is doing better and now she is begging again lol. she is supposed to go on a diet. haha. Rockett that was a sad story. i can honestly say i cried all Wed. cuz she was looking at me with sad eyes. i really thought i had made a wrong decision. But now she is back to greeting me at door. it sure is tough when you grow attached.
Let me tell ya Wolfey, Christmas (Dec.23 act) I had to put my dog down and I had her for 15 years. This was in 2004. I knew she had to be put down so I layed on my bed with her for about an hour and that was the saddest thing because that was her favorite thing to get to lay on the bed. Then I took her to the vet and I held it together pretty good until the vet said " she must have been a good friend for all those years". That was all it took and I broke down and even now when I think of that it is a horrible feeling. Pets become very close after so many years and I will NEVER get another dog. They are true friends and too hard to lose.

they say the perfect cure is to get another one right away. i say the same thing, i won't get another dog. If you do, your not replacing your dog, just bringing another one into your heart.

Sorry to hear about that wolfey and very sad.

Now, there is 2 month and a 1/2 that the Psy4's cat is death and we have always a thought to him.

He had 14 years old and it's hard to replace him, like you typed: "he was like a child in the house.".

But there is a "Bushido proverb" who says: "Accept the death same as we accept the birth!". <--- Point of meditation.

And by this phrase, we know that the Psy4's cat had had a nice life with us!

And I am sure, she is happy with you too!

Egidio.

I hope all goes well with your dog. I'm a dog lover myself. You should have seen me walking my miniature Poodle around when I am 6'0" 230 lbs. Especial if I had to pick her up from groomer in my uniform. Wifes can ask you to do some of the most embarrasing things. But I loved it. What a Chick magnete, Ha Ha.
What a Chick magnete, Ha Ha.

lol that is true. I had a all white fluffy sommoid named Dino. Yes we got his name from the Flintstones he acted the same. I had to put him to sleep 3 years ago, he was 13 years old.

We were so close that I held him when they put him to sleep. I didn't want him to face that alone.

I still haven't been able to get another dog.
