March 29, 200620 yr I downloaded from tac link from ea. It went in fine. Changes the bf2.exe file. Size stays same but date is now. I have both bf2.exe and bf2*.exe . After patching bf2.exe, i deleted bf2*.exe, copied patced bf2.exe to other folder where i renamned it. moved that back to proper folder. deleted previous renamed bf2.exe . Tried both bf2.exe and bf2*.exe . Got NIS popup asking whether to allow net access to bf2.exe as well as bf2a.exe. I said allow always. Tried account name and password from bf2 account login popup. Got same message for both files from account log in screen after a minute saying "server access denied." IN MY OPINION THEY HAVE TO DROP THE ACCOUNT VERIFICATION CRAP AND STAT RECORDING. LEAVE THAT TO INDIVIDUAL SERVERS LIKE BFV, BF42, FA, ETC... HAD WITH NO WHERE NEAR THE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS AS THIS BF2 LOGIN AND STATS LAG. THEN I BELIEVE THE GAME WILL RUN MUCH FASTER ONLINE FOR MANY MORE PEOPLE LIKE BFV AND BF42 DID/DOES. Let high paying servers decide themselves if they want their own stat recording software like FA. My attempts with logged in registered EA website name tha tworked before got me to their forums. When I tried to post this problem and suggestion igot white screen from them. hmmmmm. March 29, 200620 yr I uploaded the inrcremental patch, and I am in the process of uploadiing the large patch as well.
March 29, 200620 yr Author Thanks Gator for the compliance and what now seems a waste of time. After few hrs of searching ea and various sites, where i found similar complaints with no answers ... I posted my results here, and EA forums and Amish forums to warn people of possible problems. Out of good will. But while I was in outhouse wiring up the bomb, TigerHawk retried my pc bf2 acct access and got in. I had previously tried carefully a number of times slowly to be sure before I entered data correctly so I suspect their acct server acceptor was overloaded for awhile. So it works now. I'll post performance results when I get a chance ofcourse. I'll update EA and Amish forums now so others know they are likely safe to go ahead and try the patch but realize if ea acct servers busy or down fro mwhatever, you can't play. So I reiterize my opinion that EA should lose the worldwide acct verifications and stats, leaving that to individual servers, which in past with previous games had much less problems. This would help generate more cutomer satidfaction and more sales.
