thats how many crash to desktops i've just had trying to run battlefield:special forces. I really hope this next patch fixes this cause i dont know if i could handle much more of this!!!

You know what I get?

It doesn't crash but loads really slow and I am wondering what is going on.

It joins a server automatically like as if I pressed JOIN BEST SERVER or whatever that button is called.

Then I have to escape and join ours. ;)

coincidence? i turned off ventrilo and started game and bam joined first try??? and started vent right afterwards and everything ran great... i'll try some more test also because i also had my browser open...

programs randomly crash for me... its extremely fustrating.. i narrowed it down to a corrupt memory stick but i cant afford a new one, so i have to deal with it... maybe its that?

are you sure you arent pressing the "play sf online" icon, it automatically loads sf then joins a server with that one...i used to do that to until i figured that out

See Klink you're not very smart, you are using the "play sf online" icon like smash said and it will still ask for your password. Silly :o :p

klink if all else fails try just opening/ closing your cd tray and let it auto run unless you turned off autorun and unless you dont have one of those no-cd programs :p

ok just an update everytime i start bf2 or bf2:sf before ventrilo i connect the first time without crashing to desktop. I have crashed to desktop a couple times during a mapchange but just turned off vent and restarted my game. but the crashes have become fewer and fewer. Its just a little bothersome but with less and less crashes its worth it for me anyway imo...

atleast its alot better than crashing 5-6 times to get my game started once...

Hmmm ... related to Ventrillo ... hmmmm ... Do you have the update "Microsoft.net framework 2.0" ? I found out about it at ATI website details that told me to use their driver cleaner, use their ms.net framework 2 installer, then install their latest video drivers.

Just a guess. I don't know what that .net thing is for.

Besides total uninstall and deleting then reinstalling, only other ideas i have that were lockup solving, are empty theses folders :

desktop\my documents\bf2\cache

" " " \dmp

" " " \mods\xpack\cache

xpack is sf but i might have the spelling wrong.
