Posted July 3, 200619 yr It's been about 10 days since my last bf2 battle and I'm feeling no signs of withdrawl. Not only that, but I'm also not feeling any compulsion to log in and raise my score. I'm not sure what it is or what it isnt, but for some time now I've been longing for a new game. I've done the MMORPG thing (UO,EQ,AO,CoH,EQ2,WoW) and the FPS thing (UT,GR,BF2) but now I'm wondering whats next? I'm not counting games that aren't played online. I want the teamwork and comradery that comes with playing the same game at the same time with your friends. Anyone else share this urge to move on to the bigger and better? I would throw in my copy of Rome:Total War if I could ever get the retard I work with to give it back to me. What games do you all have your eyes on? (aside from BF:2142)
July 3, 200619 yr I could suggest some adreneline pumping single player games for a change now and then, like AVP. But you want ideas to mix it up with online stuff so maybe consider strategy types like RA2 series of mods.
July 3, 200619 yr Nope, I haven't found a game better than the Battlefield series. None! I don't like the sissy games like RPGs, anything with wizards in them, or strategy games. They all look to boring to me, and I am not interested. But that just me. I am looking forward to the next Battlefield game, BF2142, and will look forward to the next BF after that. I still download other FPS demos and try them out, but none have satisfied my hunger like Batttlefield.

July 3, 200619 yr I'm a bit in the same boat as you at the moment snc. I'm done with EQ2 right now (it just doesn't feel like any fun. At all) and am trying to find a game to play untill Age of Conan comes out. Also, Gator you'd be suprised how 'sissy' RPG's are when your facing a 100 ton dragon 40 feet high =P. edit: btw, i'm going to be trying the saga of ryzom tomorrow. God only knows what i'm going to expect (i'm not expecting too much... but we will see. :/) www.ryzom.com double edit: i'd try the fps thing, but I play too much durring a day. FPS's I can usualy play for a couple of hours untill they get either dead boring or make me angry as hell.
July 3, 200619 yr Author DOH! C&C eh? I've had my fill of the real time strat genre. As for RPGs, I took a liking to Anarchy Online and City of Heroes because I took they took a step away from wizards and dragons. City of Heroes' level of customization was obscene! You could easily spend hours creating your character before even logging in! The attached was my main. He used a large assault rifle that as you leveled up got more abilities (mine shot machine gun burts, grenades, shotgun shells, and sniper rounds). My favorite part was my ability to fly, superman style. The game just lacked indepth content. Was all hack and slash with no loot or money. Just upgrade tokens which you could attach to powers (+dmg, recast time reduction, etc). http://f10.putfile.com/7/18303543877.jpg *edit*forgot to attach the picture!

When we got tired of shooters like Duke online, we switched to Red Alert online which also has rank ladder to work on for world like BF2 has. We also did Red Alert2. It's an overhead view of maps where you slect where to build your base based on terrain, map size, number of players, ore fields. Then you build base buildings to collect ore= money = to buy more stuff ... you start out with little money and must work for and pay for everything like in real life Pay for walls and auto gun turrets to protect base buildings from spys and attacks. Build soldiers, tanks, airplanes, anti aircraft guns and aa people with stinger missiles. If you get enough time and money, even a nuke. We preffered RA1 as it was real like now. RA2 and later versions added silly mind control and fast tank killing spiders, etc... RA2 wasn't too bad this way but it's mod Yuri's Revenge added to much unrea lstuff like mind control crap. i sometimes still join online RA2 online servers where yuo get team work u pto 4 vs 4. That's a big map where you ally with 3 and play against 4 from other side of map. you have to be i nareas of map to see what's there so it gets challenging to keep abreast of what the enemy is doing. meanwhile, if you see or hear an ally in trouble you can shift your flanks to save him. he nay need aa or ground help. Gator did you try the more current day-real RA1 or somewhat unrealistic RA2 ? I understand these games aren't for fast paced shooter lovers. But they were a welcome slower buildup to a climax when we didn't mind a map lasting 1-2 hrs for a rest. The build u pwas exciting as we watched each other and enemy attempts to infiltrate. Satisfying when you were saved or you saved a team mate.

We realy played it for a few hours, and at first we were realy getting into it. (we both made some of the most evil characters ever created. Super emos.) Anyways, I found the game fun, and combat was nice (Found it funny with my flying skill I could fly up very high and just cast my special attacks from up there. No one could touch me LOL). However, like you said it just had no depth, at all. IMO it should have just been stuck to no monthly fee like Guild wars, 95% of the game is instances lol. I haven't tried AO yet, dunno why but everytime I start to download it i'm like "nah.. don't feel like messing with it". EVE Online was easily the most in depth game I had ever played. However, even though I loved the idea of open PvP and in general loved the game, the way you got xp I just started to hate. (you gain xp in real time, not by actualy doing anything. Most stuff you just buy the skills and wait for them to level). It was fine when my first skill took 2 hours to level so I could Pilot the ship I just got. I was a bit more furrious when one of my higher level skills took 2 days to level. I just didn't like time being the factor (literaly) for everything. And not how long you played, just time in general. An older player will (always) have more skill points than you. edit: if you find a good game let me know .
July 3, 200619 yr Nadril, is that Saga of Ryzom free? Well, the trial (which is free for ever) is. However, the trial all revloves around the island, and you can't go to the "mainland". I think I heard you can get all 50's in skills there (I think that the max skill level is 100) So it would be enough to realy judge what you would like and dislike about the game. I don't know, i'm trying it because realy I have nothing else to try =P. God only knows i'm not going to WoW. @ Gator: lets see a tank take one of them on, eh? hehe .
July 3, 200619 yr Author I wonder what an F-15 payload would do to a dragon. Think the A2A missiles would lock onto the fire spewing from it's mouth as a heat source? Yeah, I just now found the portion regarding the fees. I'm going to DL the free trial and see what I think of it.

Be sure whenever you get on it to add "Nadril". (asuming it's all one server. LOL)
July 3, 200619 yr Author I work alot tomorrow, and my lady is leaving for a visit back home so what little time I have off I'll probably be spending it with her. Tuesday, however, is quite another story. I'll be checking it out then.

I'll be checking it out then. Heh alright. If i'm still playing it by then i'll tell you, LOL. Ah the joy of just getting out of high-school. At the moment I'm currently enjoying (quite much by the way) my last summer and few months of not having a job ever. Until I like retire or something.
July 3, 200619 yr Author I'm only 19 mind you. The obligations of being independant. Someone has to pay my rent.
July 3, 200619 yr I'm only 19 mind you. The obligations of being independant. Someone has to pay my rent. Yeah i'm 17, good thing I am still in my parents house. Going out to South dakota (a ways away from Washington DC ) and i'll be living on my own in a dorm then. Once I get enough money / ect. i'll have my own apartment / house . Like i said, living the last couple months of complete 'independance' .
July 3, 200619 yr Author bleh @ south dakota noda koda 4 teh winz0rs! which race in Ryzom are you looking at playing? do they all start out at the same island? or do you think its like eq2 with the goodies and the baddies having their own separate economies

I've been using www.mmorpg.com a lot to find some mmo's that interest me. From what I know is that the game is completly skill driven, not class driven. So you level up what skills you want to. On the good/bad guy note, from what I've seen I don't think there are opposing races, generaly i'm sure everyone just starts off on the same island. (hopefully it won't be the same boring isle eq2 has. First time, it's fine. Second... agh). Race i'll look into a lot tomorrow. ps: I think I've maybe made more posts than Klink/Tigerhawk in one post. Maybe.... edit: SD is my dads legal residence (military ftw) so I get in-state tuition there lol. 2nd edit: got a reply from someone who plays the game, it seems PvP isn't very big at all in that game. He even said that sometimes people who get PvP dual invites will just put the person on ignore and just not group with them ever. . I'll try it tomorrow anyways LOL.
