I gotta blow off some steam. Ive been playing a lot lately, and I gotta say, I am getting sick to death of inadequate air support on the USMC side. Not only are the F-35 and Cobra impotent compared to the other sides, but no one is ever willing to do some Air to Air cover. Game after game, I spawn and die withing a minute by some pilot who basically has free reign over the skies in his Su, MiG, j10, Z10, whatever. Also, why are planes able to lock on to SAM sites before the SAMs can even see the planes???? Not that it matters since the SAM missles are mostly useless vs. jets. For God's sake someone, learn how to dogfight so us groundpounders dont keep ending up fish in a barrel for even the most inexperience pilot.

Im with ya somewhat...its nice when both teams have decent pilots....then you never see the planes, also its not fair that planes can home in on AA sites before they can....but look what happened when they tried to fix it
That's why i really hate oman, rarely do you have adequate pilots in the air trying to shoot down the su-34. I just spawn and get raped to death by the bombs. You really need to get on the side with the good pilots, smash was doing a pretty good job of keeping those guys down

Yeah, I think I might have to learn how to fly a plane now. *sigh* Oh well, now I can be an airborne medic, able to revive people at Mach 2.
well i'd love to help u guys with air support but i don't have my comp and high enough internet to play. otherwise i'd be all up in there.

Yeah, I just suck at flying. All my missles just seem to veer off at the last second, and Im no good at shaking bogeys. I'll just stick to my ninja like medic abilities.
im a pretty decent pilot...it all depends what your flying though. All the USMC planes seem to be lacking compared to the mig or especially the j10. IMO the j10 is the best plane and the one you always wannna grab

I'm a horrible pilot. My missiles vear off at the last second as well. I guess I can kind of get lucky every now and then with missiles vearing off for me. Either way. We are in the same boat. I realized why I like SF so much more then vanilla.

THERE ARE NO PLANES!!!! No planes what so ever!!!!

I was playing oman the other day and I died from a plane way to much for my liking. I tried to shoot them down with Sam sites, but the plane pretty much had to be in my face for me to even get a damn lock on. Also, another reason why I hate planes is because the armor on them is messed up. It seems like they have more armor when they are in the air. One shot, ONE SHOT, from an AT rocket, and BOOM....That is when it is on the ground. You hit it with an AT rocket while it is in the air, and it just keeps on a flying. Same goes with tank round.

Hells yes.

smash pwning me in our mig was rather frustrating the other night....another thing that frustrates me as a pilot is trying to line up your 2nd seat bomber with shots only to see he never takes them!

anyway, i'm a novice pilot at best...i started to fly about a month ago because i too was tired of getting pummeled from above...so instead of whining about it, i decided to take matters into my own hands

there really isnt any aspect of the game that is impossible to learn...it just takes time and practice, i have about 18 hours in the plane and a k/d ratio of 2.18 or so...there are many good pilots on VSF that have k/ds of 5-9 in the jet

the dogfighting is the part i'm best at...i still have trouble making my bombs hit my targets

a few pointers i can give you are:

1. always try to get behind the enemy jet when engaging them in air 2 air(a2a) combat...switch to your bombs so your missiles don't give them the tone warning until its too late!

2. once you switch to missles, wait a few seconds before shooting your missiles to see if the enemy is going to release flares right away or if they're going to try and out manuver you

3. shoot your missiles a second or two before you actually "lock" on to your target...that way the missile is already in the air and will still seek them once lock is acquired

4. your missle crosshairs consist of a small center circle(for your machine guns) and a larger outer circle (missile range)...once you fire your missiles at an enemy jet, you need to keep that jet inside the big outer circle for the missiles to track him down, if he flys outside of the circle changes are that your shots are going to veer off at the last second like many of you have described

hope that helps

airnoob snc

When i dogfight the J-10 or the MiG in the F-35 i get in real close and empty my missile pods on very rare occasions do they make it out alive. If they do i follow up with guns. But i agree the F-35 needs to be balanced out in Wake, Daqing Plant, and Oman. There is no way a missile can pull almost a complete 360 and still hit its target. That is most common with the J-10

i dont know what all this j10 hax you guys are talking about dingz0rs

as long as the pilot keeps him locked the missile will hit...pure and simple

best way to take down a j10 is sneak up on them with your bomber sights and let the machine gun do the work...because any competant j10 pilot will outmanuver you any day of the week

you can still kick butt with the F-35 and Cobra's...sort of...if you skilled enough. i have a few times...but not sure if that waz me or just other really bad pilots...pretty sure it was me:confused: point is just practice more and get a strategy and practice more!

the cobra works better if your gunner is using the TV

machine guns in the cobra is teh poo

Yeah, I swear I have hit dudes in the face with the cobra CANNON (its 30mm for goodness sake, its a damn cannon), and they dont stay down. Of course I am exaggerating, but yeah, really they are teh poo
The Cobra may have an underpowered cannon but its agility makes up for it. If u have a competent gunner using the TV missile u shouldn't have any trouble. For the Mi-28 Havoc though that is a frickin FLak cannon doesn't take much to kill anything cause the splash damage is so high
