For practice using a practice server ues, but this is a public server. We can try it, but it will add heated arguments with all the TKs it will generate.

November 18, 200619 yr I would much rather deal with APM spam than the amount of TK arguements it's going to generate. I've learned recently you can crouch or prone past these mines, it's not that hard. I've also learned that in addition to the engineeer defusing (from a decent distance I might add), recon can pick up APM's they get close enough to. Also, the Zeller sniper rifle can blow them if you hit one with it. Remember, we run our City Map server with 44 players on a map made for 36. This is what creates the target rich environment as well as the intense firefights we enjoy. That many peaple crowded in such a small space is bound to create alot of TK's if we do this. Turning Team Damage on would render this part of the game pretty much useless... and make getting the Explosive Gallentry Badge and Good Conduct Ribbon's very hard to attain. I almost never used mines in BF2 because some retard always ran into them and gave me TKs which is why I never bothered going for the motion mines first. It would figure that now that I'm activly trying to unlock them, we'd do this. *grumbles* APM's are only really an issue on the Titan server. They make it nearly impossible to open up the "assault the titan" possibility. If you want to enable TK's on these things, I would suggest you do it on that server... because it could be argued that it's pretty much impossible to defuse those things around corners or use other methods of getting past them when the corridor they are in is so activly defended.

November 18, 200619 yr Normally I would say yes, but it iof you turn them off, you will have the motion mines explode as well. Also, different from BF2 in that you have a mine defusor. a valid point. I understand that the spamming (especially in the titan maps) can get rough, but as gator said, you have a defusor now... so pop some smoke, give some support fire, and get your Engi in there.

Or stand back and let you man with a Zeller take it out... or have your recon guy sneak up and pick it up (I think they can pick up Demopacks too... I will test this tonight)

November 18, 200619 yr My primary use of APM's is defensive. Everytime i spawn at a command point I drop my 2 APMs at either approach points or hiding spots that attackers like to hit said flag. If possible, I hide them in bushes or around corners. If I'm using a spawn beacon, I'll place them on the 2 approaches to said spawn beacon to defend it. Often, these flag points are back points and undefended, and the APMS can be rendered harmless or otherwise circumvented as their are no active defenders in the area. For the defense of flags, I doubt that my TK's would go up greatly if it was turned on. I've notied that 2142 does not have you spawn inside the flag cap radius, allowing this tactic to work without risk of getting your teammates. I'd have to stop using it to defend spawn beacons tho. :/ The real abuse of APM mines is the suicide rush that even I have been guilty of. There's chokepoints in Gibralter where 5 to 10 peaple will gather fighting. One suicide rush behind or up that chokepoint, drop a mine... 5 secs later you ahve 3 to 10 kills from the APM going off. Usually, your teammates are hanging back, you ain't gonna see much in the way of TK's from that obvious misuse. I'm begining to doubt that turning the friendly fire on would stop APM abuse... it'll only just piss peaple off who get TK's and hurt our friendly environment.
November 18, 200619 yr I remember it being a pretty close decision for bf2 as well, we can give it a try but I think it's going to be more of a problem than its worth. We put it in our server message when poeple joined that FF was ON for clays and people still didn't seem to notice or care. Claymores are used much more in this game I think and the amount of tk's and fights will increase even more.

November 20, 200619 yr I think the place I see it most is like everyone else on the titans. Doesnt really bother me too much, if you see em you have the choice of the suicide march and try and clear em out or find another route. Alot of times the enemy will have them spammed all over the titan and there is no way around it, that when i go back and snag some silos and kill the titan that way. IF blowing consoles/core were the only way to destroy the titan then I would feel different about it Im sure.
November 20, 200619 yr Good thoughts, but I wonder how much of a difference it would really make on what seems to be everyone's big complaint - the corridor mining on the Titans (admittedly, a frustration for me as well). If you think about it, most of the mines are placed ahead of the friendly ingress routes (between the console room and the cargo bay door), and during heavy assault, friendlies aren't really running down the corridors ahead of the mines. As such, FF isn't really that much of an issue in that circumstance, and you're still going to see that "APM Wall" in the hallways, with or without FF on. I take more FF on the Titans from friendlies lobbing grenades indiscriminately...
November 20, 200619 yr Well it wasn't that hard of a choice but I had to break the ice of the tie But I'm sure someone will tie it up again. APM mines ff should be off because if it's on no one will be able to use the vehicles, because of massive team kills that will happen from the motion mines.
