Posted November 22, 200618 yr Yesterday on Monday Nov.20th everyone from my work had to show up for 5pm for a mandatory meeting. For over the past couple of months there were rumors going around that they may be closing us down. Well on that day the truth came out. Two women from the head office in T.O came down to tell us as of Jan.28/2007 the TNS Canadian Facts call center in Thunder Bay will be closing their doors. They said it's because now with the internet more people are doing surveys online and not on the phone so they are going to close us down. But the real reason is our lease for where we are located is up at the end of January. And that's why they are closing us down because if it was about the internet then they should close down the other 3 TNS call centers. The Thunder Bay call center is the biggest out of the four and they're closing us down and not the others. Only because they don't want to re-new our lease or at least move into a different building. Now I only have two months for work left and I don't know what I'm going to do? At least I can get unemployment insurance for the time being but still what am I going to do? I love my job it's a great job and the pay is great and now it's all for nothing. I finally made it to 2 years working there and this is what I get for it, a pink slip This totally sucks a**. I wasn't very happy about this and I don't even get a severance package because I wasn't there long enough to qualify, and actually there isn't that many people left there that do qualify, go figure I was excepting this too happen but the rumors was not until April, I guess they changed there minds. I guess my days of annoying people are over I'm really going to miss the people, I really enjoyed working with them all, so many great times and lots of laughs, I'm never going to find a job as great as this one.

November 23, 200618 yr Tigerhawk take it from me who's experienced two reductions in force and one dot com failure. You usually bounce back to a better paying job doing something that you enjoy even more. It's just the fear of the unknown and the benefits. Take this forced time to figure out what you REALLY WANT and go for it. Always know that your executive job as VP of Paddling is very secure at the armory. Though our medical plan and 401k sucks you are appreciated here. Get a good headhunter and if there is a job in your neck of the woods at www.omnicell.com let me know. Not sure if we're hiring in Canada. If anyone is in the chicago area though I may be able to provide some leads. The best thing about the internet is networking for a new job. Now get out there and have a beer!! Merc
November 23, 200618 yr Sorry to hear that, TH. At least you'll have a chance to find a better paying job, if not just a better job.
November 23, 200618 yr Ofcourse you already know I feel for you and understand your stress and depression of losing that security and cherished friendly contact. The contAct need not stop and the security is guaranteed by me. As I've told you many times in long deep talks, you can count on me to be as understanding and supportive as wanted. I want to always help you as you have helped me. Ask your good friends where they apply for work and maybe you end up in other same place. You always have me. No worries of yours about my worries of making "ends meet" as we cam make this work now. My arms and apt are open to you. ;-) Yours truly, Hogan.
