skill upgrades mid lvl in eq2 were takin out LONG ago. and every MMO you named could quest up to max lvl. its like that in any MMO. and of corse theres killing involved in the quest, but thats not considered grinding because you arent doing that over and over.

I tell you what, I played Vanguard...

First impression - 4 hours of patching = sadness.

The character customization was supreme, despite the fact I only could choose from, like, 3 hairstyles. It was very in-depth and I enjoyed feeling like my character was unique.

The music was decent.

It was once I actually got into the game I found myself incredibly distressed at how tremendously mediocre the game was. The UI was totally shoddy; things overlapped. I couldn't have window X open because window Y was large enough to literally take up the entire screen. Character handling wasn't nearly as fluid as I would have liked it to be: coming from WoW, this game was just... thrown into the MMOtrashcan. It has so much potential -- it really does -- but right now, it's just not something I can play. Between UI glitches and slow character recognition (typing), I just couldn't find myself pleased with the game.

This makes me give this game a forceful...

2/10.

While reading Biscuts review I see some points I agree with and some I do not. I would say it is more of diamond in the rough. It is just barely out of beta and was just release 2-3 weeks ago. The actual UI itself is layed out very similar to wow's standard UI (without mods). I think there will be mods out soon if there is not any already. The windows can be moved around when you pop them open so I am not really sure that is an issue for me anyway.

I will say one thing the movements at times can be a little rough. This is because the game needs to be tweaked. This can be fixed easily by turning down the graphics. If you have high end card like mine it looks GREAT, but sadly even I had to turn it down until they tweak it some.

The world is HUGE...I would say bigger than most any game out there. It makes wow look like BF2. Being a wow player I am sure you can understand size I am trying to descipe.

I like the fact the crafting stuff can actually make useful crafting stuff unlike wow. Most of the stuff you make or pickup can be used and unless you bound it to you via a crystal then you can sale it on the AH when you are done with it. So in theory if you have a friend that is lower level you can hand down gear and weapons.

Pros: HUGE world, boats, great crafting, cool quest, graphics, player owned property (houses/boats), very cool character page on their site.

Cons: performance (needs tweaking..should be coming), not really good for a first MMO, sometimes the game is a little complex, bugs (new game stuff), PVP sucks (right now anyway).

If you like to be know as the first to find stuff or find an area you will like this game because it takes a screenshot and will post on your character profile page for everone to see. It will tell if you were the first on that server or in the world (all the servers). This is not a good first MMO and I wouldnt suggest it to someone that has never played an MMO. I find it to a good place for someone who is bored with WoW but has a slightly higher IQ than the average WoW player. As for how detailed large fights are I couldnt honestly say as I have only made it to 12. I know what are are talking about though. I was in an end-game in WoW...we were doing AQ40 and Naxx prior to BC.

If anyone gets the game or has the game we are playing on Varking (team pvp) server. I am also on a Vulmane (kind of like horde) I was tired of playing the good guys I guess.

Well, I'll put it rather simply -- and I totally agree with the diamond in the rough cliche' -- this game is worth checking out and I know that some people absolutely love this game.

I think, however, for a majority of MMOers, it would be best to wait it out - a month or so - until all the hiccups are done away with.

The game has some FANTASTIC aspects (the world size really did blow me away) and I swear, if they could just capitalize on that, this could easily be one of the best MMORPGs on the market.. but I just don't see it as - as it is now - being worth paying monthly for.

Graphically, I still - when I get on Florendyl rarely - am blown away. Very nice to look at, and that one Dorf place (Bordamere's Cleft or something like that?) was... so beautiful.

It's worth looking into if nothing else. See if you like it. They give out free trials, IIRC, at like 10 per real account.
