February 13, 200719 yr What kind of sound setup do you guys use? I like using a 5.1 speaker system, but I don't have one right now and the high back of my chair prevents it from working well. With that said, headphones are the way to go. I know exactly where anyone near me is. I usually find beacons just by listening for example.
February 13, 200719 yr I am no sure about useing headphones I use 2.1 speaker system and it works great turn down the bass and way you go you can hear becons and players walking/running behide you it is great.
February 13, 200719 yr i have 7.1, i have a 5 by 5 corner desk, (about 2 foot deep) and i have the center and left right speakers in front, corners farthest away i have side right and left, and i have the rear on the desk nearest me, it works suprisingly well considering the distance and elevation between the speakers is so small, i guess it was worth the set up procedure that took me 20 minutes (height, left/right angle, up down angle and distance from seating position - if you can calibrate these break out the tape measure and do so its WELL worth it)
February 13, 200719 yr I have the Medusa 5.1 headphones. Can't get any better headphones then these. They are great for gaming not to mention how movies sound with them.
February 13, 200719 yr I use some koss headphones. I need a sound card though. I have my pc hooked up to my stereo, and I have my headphones hooked up to that. Sometimes I play without headphones and it is kinda cool hearing all the explosions with the deep bass. I do prefer headphones though. I can hear someone sneaking up beside me and so I can turn and face them right away. In counter strike, I never played without headphones. I could kill someone while flash-blinded just by hearing them. I used to shoot through the walls on cs_italy while hanging out downstairs listening to their footsteps.
February 13, 200719 yr OMG, you have the Medusa 5.1's. Nice. Hear alot of good reviews on those. The worlds only true 5.1 headphones.
February 13, 200719 yr i use simple logitech gaming headphones and mic nice and simple had creative 5.1that i bought in Germany sold it about 3 months ago for like 40 bucks
February 13, 200719 yr I use in the computer a Sound blaster live 5.1 card but headphone+micro when I play: for to not disturbe around me... But with the 5.1, it's important for to hear where come the ennemies around me: I found that when I played BF2, I heard where the sound comefrom in any direction by the steep from an ennemy or vehicules on one of the four speakers and go from one speaker to another: can find ennemies if they go toward me, left, right or behind me... Funny! BTW, nice Avatar Underspy: remind me "Spy vs Spy" fun game on Atari 800 and Atari ST/STE. Egidio.
February 13, 200719 yr I use a nice set of noise canceling headphones. I can't remember what brand they are but they deliver great sound.
February 14, 200719 yr I have some generic brand 5.1 speakers, but they produce decent quality sound.
February 14, 200719 yr Author I also bough the Razer Barracuda 5.1 surround headphones. They were DAMN expensive too. They suck....badly. One of the drivers was DOA and the sound quality is just awful. The $10 logitech headphones I'm used to were much better!
February 14, 200719 yr logitech head phones and mike combo .....cant bother the family with sound not to mention the swearing that some people voip:mad:
February 14, 200719 yr Use fatality sound card going into onkyo reciever and polk/harmen towers =D then i have the premium logitech headset..decent headset gotta love working Circuit City
February 20, 200719 yr I finally recieved my Medusa 5.1 Headphones last night. WOW!!! Amazing. I watched the intro movie 3 times just to hear it before I started playing. Before these I was using the cheapest POS there was. Mono headphone with MIC. Now I can actually hear where shots are coming from. I should have bought these a long time ago!!!
