never happened before, everythings exactly the same as it was just 2 nights ago, NO firewall up, Yes A.exe and B.exe were running, YES its up to date as far as i know.... any ideas? (and no it wasnt just a fluke, its been happening all day)

....well...have you showered recently?...and are you allergic to taco butter?...that is about all the help I can be :thumbsup:

 

-actually, I had this problem ONCE...I did not restart the game I just rejoined the server and it did not happen again...POINT: It could be totaly friggen' random...

tried on both servers atleast 2-3 times. all a no go, even after waiting for a while. its been going on all day for me.... oh well, looks like i'll try again tomorrow :/

I'm in a similar boat. After I played DefCon once it wrecked my 2142. I couldn't move the cursor in the spawn screen and keys didn't work.

 

I had to re-install 2142 and patch it. Since that time, I've had nothing but chop. Last night I dl'ed the manual patches from evenbalance. Guess we'll try it tonight and see.

 

If all else fails you might consider a fresh install and such. In the meantime kick your tower and yell at it. If it won't work for you it's better to just humiliate it in front of the mouse and keyboard.

did that twice on two seperate occasions earlier today... still no go...

Do you have another game thats using PB in the same folder?Got that problem and cant conect anymore!Did you get that PB update window?If yes i will advice to not!Is give you that losing pockets key or whatever is seying!Try to uninstall 2142 (including registry clean/delete)and reinstall a clean one....and don't touch the PB is seting automatically!Hope i help.cheers

I had the same problem you had and the only thing that worked for me was to uninstall punkbuster and reinstall. Having said that I still got kicked by PB one time last week but I rejoined the server and had no other problems. I wonder if sometimes PB can't tell if you are legal or not so it kicks you to be on the safe side. I have no modifications to 2142 other then the patch.

You need two files from Punkbuster.

 

pbsvc.exe

 

pbsetup.exe

 

Make sure your out of the game of course.

 

1) Run the pbsvc.exe file and Uninstall Punkbuster services from your PC.

 

2) Delete the pb folder from your 2142 game directory.

 

3) This is the key. REBOOT If you uninstall and then install without reboot, it won't work.

 

4) After reboot, run pbsvc.exe again to put PB back on your PC.

 

5) Run pbsetup.exe and update your 2142 game. Since you deleted the PB folder, it will make a new PB folder in your 2142 directory.

 

This method has worked EVERY TIME for me. The key is the reboot. You can't prevent it from happening again, so keep the files handy on your desktop.

mmk, i'm going to try again. i literally just kicked it and smacked it about so i'm going to see if what i did worked.

 

some of my other internet based apps went wonky last night as well... so it could have just been something in my area, or just my actual connection or router...

Sorry, I don't understand. Reboot windows if you uninstall 2142? Then don't reboot when you install?

ah yes.. this punkbuster thing can be a nightmare.. it was happening to me for a bit.. especially the losing key packets.. usually all i would have to do is leave a server and come back!! then it would be fine.. lost connections was another big problem for a few days.. but now it seems fine (knock on wood).. tried everything under the sun.. major headaches.. best of luck

well what's basically happening is that my internet connection sucks and when it says I'm losing my key packets it kicks me out. Wellll, I never can reconnect to the server because my internet connection sucks. LOL so all I have is one chance to get in or else I'll have to quit the game...

all fixed.... kinda weird actually..... i reinstalled my divix drivers (for a completely different issue) and it worked fine immidately after...? i'm confuzzled...

I wish I had read this sooner, my machine was doing this too, so I decided it was time to re-format and go from XP-64bit to XP-32bit, because my adobe apps (photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) don't like XP-64.

i go ttwo diff errors... invalid image and losing key packets... i had to reinstall the game to get it to stop ....
