I never look at the outfits. I have to train my crosshairs and see if the name comes up red, then I shoot. I think this may be draining away precious time that I could use. This is especially a problem when in close quarters.

 

Do you shoot enemies because you recognize their outfit, or do you wait for the red lettering or red square to pop up first?

This is a totally rad question, and the rule I always use is this (and it's probably because of ArmA) -- If you don't know, don't shoot.

 

Now, I play Veteran Mode in ArmA (which means basically there are no fancy map things to help you out, there is no IFF, there are no XHairs, all that), so this is a necessity. Always check your shot.

 

I don't know about 2142, 'cause I don't play, but generally there's a good bit of discrepancy between players' suits. ^^;

Most of the time you'll have to do neither, only enemies are rushing towards you isn't it ? So go ahead and shoot 'em down

There is an easily noticeable difference between the all black uniforms of PAC and the light grey, white, and orange of the EU

Uniforms, EU has black and white cammo on the arms and legs. PAC is all black (or a really dark grey). Also, anyone running around without a name tag is safe to consider fair game. I know that doesn't always work in close quarters, so best practice is to eyeball your mini-map before heading into a building so you have an idea of friendlies in the area. You will shoot and kill your team mates from time to time. If you are on a good server they won't punish because it's just something that happens. Carry a defib for those instances if possible. I've never punished for a team kill (on purpose) because I understand we are all going to make that mistake.

Well if you really can't tell by uniforms. You should put your "soldier detail" up to high. i dont know if its called soldier detail, it might be called "model detail". anyways, right before you start a game make sure you know what team you actually are and keep in the back of your head what color your supposed to be looking for.

sometimes I go by the name NOT being over them. But sometimes it is my teammate and I end up killing him and started a bunch of drama...

Uniform is the way i kill people. But have made a mistake here and there

99.9% Uniform, that never lies, names sometimes do. One of those "hard-coded" mental rules one developes while playing BF2 (*coughs* name bug)

I dont usually confuse the uniforms (thats what i look for) but I tend to forget what side Im on from time to time....the worst is the random grenade lob though

i used to look for the name but after i started looking at the uniform color, my tk's went down and kills per death ratio improved. i always look at what side/uniform my teammates have and shoot the other color. you'll be able to get off your shots faster.

 

one thing with the uniforms, if you're on eu and pick up a pac kit (ie. the krylov for assault), it messes up some of the uniform color but overall, the gray vs. black thing works. same thing if you're pac and pick up an eu kit.

Always uniform unless someone is too far away hiding behind a bush but their stupid big RED name is giving them away LOL.

I don't like to kill teammates so I get killed every now and then by enemies. I have no method that works every time.

 

I like the running toward you thing but that is me half the time.......

i just wait a few seconds if no name appears or if the name is red then shoot. chances are if your hiding in a good spot they wont see you aiming at them

definetely shoot em by outfit, but if they are far away or in a vehicle shoot by the red or blue names

I agree about the not punishing for TKs unless it is very stupid. I don't think I should be punished when some idiot runs in front of my tank. What part of stay out of the way don't they understand?

Frankly I never noticed a difference between the uniforms so thats something to help me out. Usually I have to wait for the name and if it doesnt show I shoot away....usually dying in the process.

 

...I know it sounds dumb, but I guess I have something set wrong because mostly the uniforms look pretty much the same to me. So is there a setting to make there be a starker difference between the uniforms of pac / eu?
