That acomplishes 2 things..

It pisses people off..

it kills a freshly started server

i hate people who cap out at the begining of an 8 player game as do alot of people...

I joined the round about a minute after it started and was walking up to the church and looked at the map and we already had all but the church flag! I was hoping the round would last longer because I'm starting to like the Baur and I wanted to try it out on Carebear Landing.

And Shotty, it was kinda disappointing when I seen the server go from 19 vs 19 or whatever it was to 17 vs 12

Yeap...people that do that are point whoring...(will refrain from language)

Point whoring = getting a lot of points

Capping the other team out = not getting a lot of points

I fail to see the correlation here.

People that cap out that early are just idiots, plain and simple.

:D -QFT...BAM!

Yep, what you do is cap everything but the church

it's easy to suppress them there because of the hill and all the firing positions from the place across the street

I was on the losing team... that was one bad team. :D

ooo nice sig...imagine me knifing you while your proned...now that would be a funny sig
Maybe my wording was to complicated for some...People that enjoy those quick cap-outs are the same people that watch their Win/Loss ratio.

No need to get snappy slick. I was just pointing out that your generalization was flawed.

... and its "too" by the way.

My honest opinion here:

The objective of the maps is to capture CPs. There's nothing wrong with doing so quickly. It's just like America's Army. The point of the game is to ACCOMPLISH AN OBJECTIVE -- it even says that as you're loading up -- not to run around and kill and take OBJs as a secondary priority. Those game mode blurbs are there for a reason.

This argument is exactly the same as I got all too often on Urban Assault on AA. I would always tell my team to go directly to the OBJs, but the other team wanted to whore things out and spend all this time just shooting at each other, then when it's empty, go for the OBJs.

Our team, of course, dominated because we win by default by securing both weapon caches. The other team got very upset with us, but our natural reply was, "It's what you're supposed to be doing." After a while, they learned the hard way that your job is to DEFEND or ATTACK AN OBJECTIVE.

In BF2 terms, this means you're either capping or you're killing near a CP. You can't rightly be upset with someone for beating your team by playing the game the right way. If they capped all of your CPs, maybe you should have had better defenses on one.

IMHO.

as long as the server doesnt have 8 people in it its not really a big deal

you said there was 19v19

if they lost they lost

id much rather get capped out than spawn camped which is the only other alternative (one just gives me a loss the other kills my kpm, ppm, and total deaths)

if you get capped out and half you team leaves

at least it balances it out next round

when they stay is when it sucks and you lose for 10 rounds straight because the good team obviusly doesnt want to leave and your stuck getting whopped on with no end in sight

I have no problem with both sides trying to win. What I do have a problem with is when all the "good" players are all on one side and the lopsided victory becomes the norm. I would much rather play an evenly balanced game where the score stays close until the end. Then even if you are on the losing side you feel that it could have gone the other way if your side had worked harder. On Saturday my cousin and I played on several servers and each one seemed to have this problem of lopsided skills. You will only take being killed immediately on being spawned so many times before you try something else.

Do you still play America's Army?

I used to play that, is it better now?

I stopped playing a long time ago, like over a year.

I'm not playing until 3.0. ^^

A lot of people complain that AA has gotten progressively worse since 1.9; I disagree wholeheartedly. I think since I started playing, AA has only gotten better as far as maps and playability goes.

I guess just play it for yourself. I still like it. -Shrug.-

Same here, I quit playing AA for the time being until Fall 2008 when they release America's Army v3.0 with all new maps, weapons, features, etc.

I started playing AA during version 2.5, and it was good until they released 2.8.1 with the SMU maps, they are way too laggy, and I play in U.S. servers.

I think 2.7 turned the game around.

is it still the same basic gameplay?

I think the last version i played was 2.1

The basic game play has indeed changed.

There is an SAI (situation awareness indicator). In english, that means "minimap".

There is more training, there is *SOME* vehicles now, such as the Up-armored humvee, there is a mission editor, and some more stuff such as the new ACU.

Hey that sounds pretty cool actually

And yeah not having a minimap was annoying, having to rely on your compass got on my nerves ^_^

Are the humvees only on big maps, and can they shoot at people. Also, can you destroy them? What does the opfor humvee look like?

And what is the ACU?

Lol sorry about so many questions.

The humvee is only on one map, which is a Co-op map (yes, they added 2 co-op maps). Yes they can shoot people, .50 cal version and MK19 grenade launcher version. And there is no opfor humvee.

The ACU (Army Combat Uniform), is this: The current U.S. Army and Marines uniform.

Sorry bout the super huge post LOL

I went back through the training, 'cause I got a friend to play and wanted to make sure I could kind of hold her hand through the training (she was/is new to FPSes), and they actually made the training harder! Like, they changed some of the places -- The obstacle course in particular! (All my buddies, when we started playing, lmao'd at "That may be your way, but that's not the Army way!" They've since taken that out.)

You can destroy the HUMMVs. Generally a T72 or RPG will take you out if you're not quick.

As far as gameplay, the game remains the same game!

Damn good map is Steamroller. I'm in love with it.

In fact, all the GuildHall maps own. SF Old Town is the epitome of urban combat.

My favourite new addition is the SAI only because of the Enemy Spotted key. "Enemy spotted! <red dot appears on map to show you where the guy who spotted the enemy was looking>"

I might try AA again. The original was way too buggy but maybe they have improved the game play. Thanks for reminding me of this.

Sorry for interrupting the AA thread but going back to the whats the point of the game, the little time i've been playing BF 2142 i seem to got a bad feeling about teams so far. For example its common to see people in the middle of no where, walking 1000 m just coz they missed the titan. They could suicide and actually try it again for a point or two but no, they rather let the other team destroy the core than actually lossing a point. Also guys on my team runing to the core waiting for the reacons to blow up their c4 just to punish them so they can get a gold star... I would really love to see more team play.

Actually yesterday i was reaconing far from one silo(had other one closer) so i couldnt really kill that many guys in the other silo but i was spoting them and i know i got 2 points in 10 minutes, but my team won because of that... now whats the point winning of making points?

Its like those guys who rez you in the titan just to have you insta-die to some turret. Then guess what? he rez you again, and again just for the points, and then he dies to a granade. you know what i mean
