Why do you put yourself through this much suffering? I only suck up and do it when the map is a few minutes old, and there still isn't a comm...and I hate it. Every now and then I get squads that listen, but mostly it's just people *****ing about "OMG I NED SUPPLIEZ PLZ OLOL." GAH!

Once in awhile can be entertaining. It helps if you know one or two of the squad leaders because you can still talk to them using 'b' and then you can preferentially give them the UAV's, supplies and stuff. But you're right, most of the time nobody accepts your commands but will start a mutiny for no reason.

I'd much rather be on the ground shooting at stuff :) .

I find when I command on our server I always get good squads, sometimes too good. I remember one game I had a squad of Moongamers members, the SL kept yelling at me over the comm for more orders, thats good and bad at the same time because I kept having to divert my attention to them. :)
I start mutiny's when the commander is constantly giving me the same orders...that is so freaking annoying. Or if he keeps denying all my requests, and doesn't spot for me when it's obvious I need it(ie, if you make unseen to the EU base on Gibralter).
I hate when somebody starts mutiny as soon as the round starts and when somebody FINALLY takes the commander spot when the score is around 80-70 for both teams. It doesnt really bother me TOO much because mutiny fails 99% of the time.

I hate that too, mutiny's fail 99% of the time and then that player and the commander get into a shouting match for the first 10 minutes of the game. It's kind of silly.
I try to follow the commanders orders but if I am at an enemy flag I try to take that before heading to the commanders objective. I always appreciate a commander that leads but too many commands can cause squads to lose interest.
I almost had a good commanding game yesterday, had a good charlie squad, we capped all silos, fell behind a little when defending the Titan, again only Charlie squad did all the work, the others stopped listening, and from 90% winning we lost the round in no time. I found lately that when there are no (=A=) members on titan, everybody does TK's blowing up our own ships and more, it is just not cool, we need more admins definitely.

like gamb, i'd rather be on the ground blasting away.

but sometimes being commander can be quite entertaining....like a break from blasting away.

its annoying when u haf squads that dont listen or are super dependant on u...like ask for orders every bleeding second.

but by being commander, u get to discover good squads and reliable players. ppl u want to play with the next round.

 -As for commander...I am a hard SL, and as a commander I am worse. The unfortunate thing about commanding is that I can not kick people from my team, as oft I do with...uncooperative...squad members. The ONLY squads that get ANY assistance from me are the ones who listen/communicate with me. On the rare occasion that more than one are cooperating I will coordinate their movements and actions to not only assist each other but to make optimum use of my assets for both (or more) squads. A squad is three or more members that stick together, with allowances for odd situations (ie. 2 man sniper/walker/gunship teams and squads that are working together well while spread out (especially in small games)).

lol thats awesome, thats why i play commander, it gives me time to go to the bathroom and get food and drinks lol:D

I love being commander on the Titan server. I just spawn in as engineer on the ground and hide behind a crate. First thing I do is immediately select all squads and send them towards the nearest silo. They almost always obey but there is usually one or two squads that head somewhere else and so I give them a new order in their direction. They are much more likely to accept your commands if you give them a target they are heading to or already at. Also, many times a squad leader forgets to issue orders anyway, so if they are set at defense of silo 5 but they are attacking silo 2, just give them that order. I am sure they appreciate it.

I drop supplies immediately on the first or second nearest silo because the engineers and recon will have used up all their supplies.

I spawn a UAV after doing the area scan to see where the bulk of the enemy is, or heading and where the our team needs it most. It takes a some quick thinking but if you see a bunch of blue and a bunch of red in the same spot, spawn the UAV there.

And if you see a bit too much blue in one area and see the other team heading to a friendly silo , send them over there for defense (defend this position). It seems like squad leaders respond to defense orders often especially when if we are winning and have most or all of the silos.

A good tactic is to prepare all the squads for a blitzkrieg attack on the enemy titan with UAV support and transports as soon as the enemy shields are down. Let all the squads know ahead of time, or about 25% shields left on their titan to have recon, support, and assault kits ready. It is important to be alive at this time because you want to send the orders to them immediately. Most of the time with advanced notice, the squad leaders will be eager and waiting with air transports and APCs at their nearest silo or already flying to the titan when the shields go down.

If all this happens as planned, the reactor core is exposed within a couple minutes, their whole team is attempting to defend their titan or making their way to their titan sometimes by suicide. At this time, things can become stale though due to the amount of enemy defensive force on the exposed titan. This is when you can rely on the few soldiers on the ground capping silos with one man. All silos should be friendly and the nearest silo to the enemy titan should have the most defense. At this time, instruct the squad leader at the silo nearest the enemy titan to not allow any of them to leave.

If I notice that the enemy forces are making a comeback, I tell the squad leader how long they have in minutes to complete their objective (destroy console, destroy reactor core) or else I send them back to ground defense. I communicate with them though, and ask their opinion on the situation on the enemy titan.

You know what you are doing. Some commanders are just irritating but a good commander issues orders that change to the situation. If I was wearing a hat it would be off to you......

i like being on freefalls squad and constantly hitting the not happening button when he gives us orders
yea i enjoy being a commander, pretty cool, but when im on the ground, i wish the commander would actually give out orders, many times you have like 3 squads trying to take one flag or a silo, and next thing you know all the other silos are taken and we are pinned in this one silo, so yea, a good commander is hard to find! also, sqauds need to actually listen to the commander, a coordinated attack is so much more fun then a random free for all shootout

Apologies to any commanders on the Titan server...Ima learn me a plane today. I've never played titan before! That gunship is fun when I can get my hands on it. I have no idea how you learn to do these things! I've been trying all day to land the stupid transport on the stupid titan and I can't do it!

Understandable point and points.

More complicated and demanding with the commander/squad thing.

Some feel it should not be played unless you learn and do this.

Others are not very good or prefer to go lone wolf to see where they can help out most on their own.

Some take it very seriously. So i guess if you command or joinn squad, be respectful of your commitment to help in that way.

If you go lonewolf, do your best to help and don't team punish for accidental kills of you as lonewolf in way of tank or accidental kill.
