July 30, 200718 yr If you have some good air tactics, post them here. 1.) If possible, bind a key to view behind. This is good to do after a swoop attack to see if you left any enemies alive. 2.) Swoop attack: It is important to be flying fairly high for this. Take a dive towards the silo with medium throttle. This gives your gunner ample time to survey and strike infantry and gives yourself ample time aim and destroy vehicles, AA Gunner. At the end of the swoop attack if you did not eliminate enough enemy forces, climb to a sufficient height, do an about face, and initiate another swoop attack. 3.) About Face (I learned this from someone doing it on our server, not sure who it was though): Try this tactic next time you are getting chased by another gunship. You have to be fairly far ahead of the other gunship, enough time to do this maneuver which is a heckuva lot faster than doing a banked turn. As you are flying straight ahead, release throttle, yaw right or left and climb. Continue pulling back on the stick and you will do a backflip. Now yaw in the other direction and you should have completed an about face. You should now be facing the gunship heading straight for you. Put up your shields and unleash missile fury. 4.) Backflip: This is a bit different than executing a loop. A loop is done under full throttle. A backflip is done under no or little throttle. Initiate a loop and as you are at 90 deg inclination, release throttle. Continue holding the stick back and you should right yourself to level flight much quicker than doing a loop. This can be done if you are doing a loop and anticipate a crash into the ground, this maneuver can possibly save your ship. 5.) Chase maneuver tactics, anticipating: Many times, it is beneficial to anticipate enemy gunship maneuvers. If the enemy ship banks left, you bank left but at a greater angle 'leading' so that the missiles can lock on. If you are following far enough behind the enemy ship and they perform a loop or backflip, you can anticipate and slow down enough to keep them in your sight the entire time sparing yourself the expense of doing that same maneuver. Another anticipation observation you can make is during the head on attack, or chicken, firstly avoid the crash, at the same time notice the enemy ships bank angle and notice how much they are climbing. There are two things you can do. A.)IF they are not climbing very much, if you see them banking to their right, in your avoidance you will be banking right, get a little bit of distance then execute an about face and the ship should be in your view. Try not to do an entire banked turn. B.)If they are climbing, you also climb but use slightly less throttle. If you manage to use less throttle than the other gunship, you should be directly behind. You have the advantage but things can become a bit tricky because of the opposite roll angle and reduced climbing speed. 6.) Chase maneuver tactics, following: This is opposite to anticipating, this is following, or mocking the enemy ships flight path. Although you have the offensive advantage, following is almost always a defensive maneuver. There aren't many instances where this works better than anticipating, but there are a couple. For instance, following is more important if you are flying very close to the enemy ship or flying low around structures because an anticipating maneuver can put you right into a building. So if the enemy ship flys behind a building, you fly behind the building. Also, if you following too closely to the enemy ship, their loop or backflip can put you right into their sights. So what you can do is follow their loop. This forces them to make another maneuver to gain sight of your ship and find you. 7.) Inverted flight. This is purely a defensive maneuver that can be used while being chased closely. Initiate a loop but instead of completing the loop, fly inverted. It can fake an enemy ship out while they continue their loop or backflip. During inverted flight, look behind and see if the enemy ship completed their loop or see if they back flipped. If they did, finish a backflip, and they should be in your sights.
July 30, 200718 yr -Low and fast for Anti-vehicle/gunship, dive-bombing for anti silo. -If someone starts pulling up for a 'noob loop' just stop and turn on the spot...kill them if they complete the loop or not...OR...spot them and laugh when all the AA on the map targets them (no cover in the air) and they die. (...other stuff I do not feel like typing....)
