Posted August 1, 200718 yr http://www.usbcell.com/benefitimages/large/open_USBCELL_zoom.jpg This NiMH AA cell can be used like a normal battery and can be recharged simply by plugging into a USB port. With over 15 billion Alkaline batteries made and thrown away each year - wasting resources, C02 and creating toxic Landfill - USBCELL offers a eco-friendly alternative as can be re-used hundreds of times as no charge adaptor or cable is needed, saving you money, hassle and waste. 16.00 kinda high tho http://www.usbcell.com/product/1
August 1, 200718 yr -16 bucks is fine but soon everything will have rechargeable batteries built-in lots of stuff has rechargeable batteries, but not everything. Lots of stuff still doesn't and most likely won't for a long time. If everything had rechargeable batteries the battery companies would go out of business
August 3, 200718 yr Wow I can't believe they just thought of this now. It's an ingenious idea. Although many battery companies will be losing money like crazy now.
August 3, 200718 yr It is neat, but hardly practical and not at all cost efficient. I'd hate to take up USB ports to charge batteries. And depending on the capacity of the battery, it might take too much time to charge them. Also, since it appears the battery is half usb plug, half battery cell, I'd bet that the capacity of the battery is half that of similar AA rechargeable batteries. If you guys want to see some cost efficient batteries, check out these sites. 20 AA nimh 2300 mah batteries for $25! http://www.all-battery.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1342 http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2552 ps. I buy a lot of batteries. You should see all the RC cars I own!
August 3, 200718 yr That usb cell is 1300mah, that is very small! It would be frustrating charging all the time too!
August 3, 200718 yr I have a charging bank I got off eBay that holds every common size battery and came with extra batteries so I always have fully charged batteries waiting. I spent around 120 on it, haven't bought a battery since. I use the Energizer Alkaline Rechargeable's, we'll see how long they keep their alkaline performance.
