I'm running a much lesser card, 8400 GS, but it's pretty smooth with 2GB ram.

and on a laptop, no less. That's encouraging...what is the make/model?

It's an HP Dv6500t, got it about 2 months ago. I love it so far, everything runs smooth and I haven't had any problems with it.

Yeah I bought it, my wife makes a big deal out of the piracy thing.

I have 2GB ram and an 8800GTS with Vista home premium. Booooooo Vista. :D

I read in one if this months computer magazines, that I subscribe to, that there is some sort of problem with the new quad processors.

Yeah I hear ya on piracy, my wife is the same way but she's non-technical so I fly under the radar. Luckily I'm covered on XP with corporate policy and volume license...I've been known to share though, heh.

piracy = badd

Word.

No talk of piracy on these here forums. It's bad news, seriously. I'll set Klink on you if you don't watch out.

Vista 32 with 8800 640 and an intel e6600 oc to 2.8 has been pretty stable, except for titan maps, I avoid those.

I was told if, while in game alt+tab out, then use task manager to set the processor affinity for the BF2142.exe file it helps greatly. Titan was not made for dual core processors, so if you limit it to one core it runs better. Try it out.

I used to have to do this and then finally realized that there is a Windows driver (XP anyway...not sure about pissta) for AMD's dual core CPUs that fixed all my issues. Thanks for all the feedback...I'm gonna stay with XP until I get a more manly CPU and more memory.
From what i hear now it is more advisable to get the x64 version of Vista. Since 32 only can recognize up to about 3GB of RAM and x64 can recognize up to 128GB of RAM. So if anyone out there building a new comp that wants Vista just get the x64 and stick 4GB of RAM in there. Vista is a memory hungry system u will need the extra memory. Other than the occasional incompatibility issue x64 is not that bad. I just need to figure what it is that Vista is doing to my HDD every now and then i disabled indexing but the HDD is always doing something. It was actually rather quiet while typing this but in game it can go nuts. So for all u who have given up on Vista just remember that SP1 comes out Jan 08 and will fix various issues including compatibility and game performance.
