September 17, 200718 yr I have an EVGA 8800GTS 320MB vid card, will this be enough to play this game? I was reading in this months Maximum PC, an article about the top ten games to defeat your system. I think COD4 was one of the ten. I have been trying to find as many articles as I can to justify my saving $100 dollars from the 640MB card by getting the one I got. I have read alot of articles claiming that the performance differences between the 320MB and the 640MB aren't that great. All of these articles also say that differences become more evident at higher screen resolutions and the larger the monitor. I think only one of these articles actually mentioned, what they consider to be, a higher resolution. This comment wasn't in the part about my card it was in reference to another card. So this has me confused, what are these "higher resolutions" that these guys are talking about. They also make comments such as "good card for monitors 19" and under." How does the monitor size affect the cards performance if you run it at lower resolutions, even if you don't know if what they consider a "higher resolution" is lower than what you already run? lol, I read that last sentence out loud and lol'd. I run a 22" monitor with this card. I know that with this card I won't be able to run at high resolutions DX10 games. But will my monitor size affect the game play with a "low resolution", what ever that is. Ok so EVGA has an upgrade plan, you can send them the card you just bought for a newer card and pay them the difference within the first 90 days after you purches your card. I guess what I am saying is should I do the upgrade thing that EVGA offers, I am already wanting the 640MB card, but the rate things are going should I wait for the next big price drop to get an even better card, or am I worrying too much about this, and my card will play COD4 on my 22" monitor with no probs?
September 17, 200718 yr XMAS is around the corner that could be good or bad they could raise prices before then to make it look like good deals then so you could get your deal now or possibly wait till late november or december.
September 17, 200718 yr im sure an 8800gts 320 could run anything at the moment. maybe not on max settings but it should run smooth.
September 17, 200718 yr lol I am sure it will run the game buddy, I should worry I have a 7900 gs 256mb lol:D
September 17, 200718 yr What resolution do you run at? That'll determine how well your card will handle the game, if you run around 1280*1024 you'll be fine. When they say it'll break systems they're talking about running the game at the highest settings on a huge monitor, that hardly covers the way most people run games.
September 17, 200718 yr From the reviews I've read, the difference is very small between the two cards (as far as FPS is concerned). I would keep the 8800 GTS. I plan on buying the same card around Christmas, but the 9000 series might be out by then. If I ever pay more than $300 for a video card , I want someone to hit me up side the head with a wiffle bat. Also, I do not like the split screen stuff with the duel cards either. I have heard some folks been having issues with those as well.
September 17, 200718 yr Author Thanks guys. I needed some perspective. Thanks Gator, thought I was on my own with this one. Ding, that's a comforting thought. Nites, Phunky, I run BF2142 at 1024x720, or something like that, with all the setting turned all the way up and it seems to be pretty smooth gameplay. It really is a pretty game with everything maxed out. Weihe, I hear that's still a decent card. I run the monitor at it's native 1680x1050, or whatever it is, for everything else.
September 17, 200718 yr I'm worried that my 8800GTX won't be enough to play the game smoothly lol-then what would:rolleyes: not sure theres much out there that could top your card. i have the same one you have tilgado for the same reason to save money but more like 200$ not 100$ .eitherway i think it'll be fine although maybe just maybe you'd have to go to med graphics.

September 19, 200718 yr Ha you're worried with an 8800 when I just got the best video card I can get for my computer. And it's only a X1950pro, at least it has 512mb though, but I really need to upgrade to PCI-E, Too bad Then I'd need Motherboard, Videocard, Memory, and a New Processor since the FX-53 is getting kinda dated for me.......
