I've been in to FA since 2.4 A friend of mine told me about the game. He's long since quit the mod like many other FA players.I joined up with TA not too long after it was started. At that time there was at least 150 FA servers and maybe 50 of them had players in them at a time.I'm not sure what the count is for FA servers now but it's less than 20 and maybe 5 are full at any given time.Ultimately it was steam that killed FA. Before steam you had to wait to get into the popular servers. Now they are only packed full on some weekends. TA has lost lost some great players like Unforgiven , Commando, and many others.Honestly, I'm surprised TA is still around. I like the fact that we are trying new games but it's obvious FA is gettin phased out.Hmm, just stinks the game is goin down. I haven't found a better one yet although HL2 looks promising. There are good games like AA and DC but they don'y have the ultra-fast gameplay of FA.I hope an HL2 mod springs up that has the characteristics of FA. But even then it wouldn't be ready for another year or two.Has anyone heard any more about the FA team and there plans for an HL2 mod?peace out,PUNISHER

A. Your lucky if 2/3 servers are full2. Majority of FA team is working on Jungle MistC. Yes FA is dieing, and dieing a little faster each time someone quitsD. FA started to fall before Steam.5. WON has about the same number of players as steam.F. Anyone know any good games out there? I'm getting tired of FA

OK...this is the deal ;)First of all, TA has had many players come and go over the past 2 years, so nothing new there. Players quit for many different reasons, but they are typically replaced by new players. The Firearms mod has been plagued by many factors, so I have listed a few below...- Steam - Mainly because Valve did not shut down the WON Authentication servers. This caused a division in HLDS engines and especially to the player base as well. Steam itself is a good thing and I like it much.- New PC Games - Many new First-person Shooter games have sprung and took FA players away. A no-brainer there...- FA Team - The FA team announced to the world that they would were no longer be providing updates to FA. They told us that 2.8 (now, 2.9) was going to be the last update, and were officially ending development (not to smart). Also, the FA team does not inform the community (and potential players) of events and happenings within the mod (their website). Their website is antiquated, ugly, unprofessional, and Dead because they very seldom post any news. - FA Forums - The FA forums are (and continue to be) very unfriendly towards many players who visit there. They are not properly moderated, and continue to allow little smacktards to type ugly and vicious comments to other players. These smacktards especially like to prey on anyone, especially new players to the mod/forums. This alone makes new players leave the mod because they feel they can't be part of the community, nor do they want to participate in a mod where the players are rude and unfriendly towards them.- Weapons/Equipment Restrictions - After the "Helmet Exploit" escapade in 2.6, new players were turned off by the many servers that required them to wear helmets. These servers also banned players for using certain weapons because "they" felt that certain weapons were "overly unbalanced" weapon, and thus an "Exploit". New players also discovered certain locations on the maps were "Map Exploits", and again found themselves being accused of "Exploiting". These players would enter into an FA server for the first time, and were immediately called names and badgered for using weapons/equipment, or certain locations on maps (all of which came with the game). Too many restrictions = No fun ...so they left. Now for the good news - You may, or may not know about the new Steam addition. Steam is going to add FA to the regular download/updates in the "Games" section of the Steam console. This will allow for greater exposure of the mod to many new prospective players, players who would not have normally be exposed to the mod. In other words, players will see "Firearms" in the game list, download the mod, and play it for the first time. I only hope the FA community will be kind to these New? players and welcome them, and hopefully not call them n00b and You idiot. Name calling, cheat accusations, and general unfriendliness will turn these players away as well. When someone enters the server and says "Hi" or "Lo", we should all respond with a friendly "Hi" back to them. The Armory has been so successful for the past 2 years because we care about the players, the server, and the mod. We are friendly towards others, have almost no restrictions, and make it a point to have a great time. Players want a fun and friendly environment to play in, and that is what keeps them coming back to The Armory again and again and again. :p * Edited slightly to make for easier reading
