Logitech G933 review: This wireless headset is so good, you can skip its high-end competition
These are the ones I use. Not a full headset, but audiophile headphones. Pricey but guaranteed to hear footsteps very well ;-)

Help me not suck!
Yep, quality sound is a game changer. Some surround cards allow for adjusting surround positioning, basically amplifying positional sound cues. On top of that, amplification of higher sound frequencies using EQ does wonders for footstep audio. With a good enough sound setup, you should be able to close your eyes and fire and hit your target. Eyesight not required.

Help me not suck!
A nice set of high rated gaming headphones makes a huge difference too and a superior surround sound peripheral card should help make pinpointing targets a bit easier.

Just Sayin Hi
Hey Ding, it's murderer, changed name. ARMA 3 is kind of a mmo. I bet you'd like it. You're good at jets and it has fun jet action.

I Can't See
It's hidden pretty damn good. I finally found it by clicking on 'server icons'. Pardon me for not knowing that meant teamspeak.

I Can't See
I agree, I miss this functionality.

BF3 vs BF4
More than anything I miss titan mode from bf2142. Lots of memorable matches breaking through the core of the space ships.

Pulled this today
I took this picture about 5 years ago while I was working in a trailer park. I saw this truck pulling out an entire motorhome. It looked like the truck was rubbing it's rear tires in the fender well. I'm not sure how far they made it before they were pulled over lol.

Franklin, I think some weapon challenges are like that. Which one in particular are you asking about?- ARMA 3 Week 2 First Impressions
That's awesome! I'll definitely help you get set up if I'm online but Gator said he will help you too. He is online now with AC- ARMA 3 Week 2 First Impressions
Two weeks ago, I hop into teamspeak and Gator, sounding somewhat more excited than he normally does, says, "Rogue, we found just the game for you. Remember you want to fly in a simulator, check out ARMA 3". In not so many words, he basically says he found the best military game ever and he is sure of it. I look at it in Steam and it was on sale, I watch a few videos, still not too impressed. The graphics are good, the gameplay looked good, but I love Battlefield! I thought to myself, "Battlefield 4 is all the simulator I want". I didn't tell that to Gator. It was a slow time of day in the BF4 server, but Gator was getting his game on very early which is pretty unusual. I figure, ahh what the hell, I can always return the game to Steam if I want. They have a money back guarantee too. One hour later, I have the game on my computer. Immediately, I felt overwhelmed, almost so overwhelmed that I wasn't enjoying the game very much. I had a lot of questions. This game has a huge learning curve. Something as simple as running, pulling out my MKR and making an accurate shot was difficult. Now, I'm aware of breathing, and running up a hill while enemies are taking pot shots at me and I'm losing my breath. It's best to approach any fight stealthily in this game, get relaxed, set up a strategy for accomplishing the mission at hand, and do things quietly. Izded was right, well sort of right. He said it would take about three days just to set up my controls. I'm at week two, and I'm still setting up my controls. But now, I'm definitely more adept and can accomplish something and help the team. For those who love flying, this is the game for you. This game is also a bonafied flight simulator. Gone are the quick landings and takeoffs ala BF4. In this game, you must taxi your aircraft to the runway, make sure the runway is clear, check your flaps and line up straight. Landing is no easy task either. You must line up and slowly glide your way to the runway not approaching too low, or too high and flare the ship so the rear wheels touch first, that's if you remember to put your landing gear down in the first place. This game is huge. For some missions, it takes several minutes to get there by jet. Loading up a transport helicopter can take upwards of ten minutes at times while everyone readies themselves and then it takes another several minutes to enter the hostile territory. Hopefully, you found a safe place to land because if not, the whole ship might get shot down and everyone will have to do it all over again. We have now learned the importance of reconissance before a mission just to find a good place to land. This game is much slower than BF4. I know when I play, I don't have time to take a breath. If I need to step away for a few minutes, I can't. It's an intense game. ARMA 3 is much different, as long as I'm hidden and occupying an abandoned building, chances are pretty slim that I'll be discovered. I can step away from the game and use the restroom, grab a drink or snack, and come back and not much in the game has changed. It's a much slower game in that respect, but that is where this game tricks you. Yea, I can be walking down the street and bullshitting with my fellow infantrymen and suddenly, you hear pop pop pop, crackle, GUNFIRE! That false sense of security is erased as you are once again reminded you're in a war zone. Not only that, your squad leader and three other men might have went down and you're the only one un-injured and huddling in a building, all alone. Desperately, you try to save everyone... I've only scratched the surface. This game has a lot to discover and master. I'm hooked.- Nighttime flyby of the base

Here is a video of Gator crashing a Helo today in a new helicopter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Ka64PrL-c- Tweaking ARMA 3 for better FPS
Hello everyone. Here are some tweaks that can be used to increase the game FPS and startup time. This is a massive game and is even more resource hungry than BF4. Here are some tweaks we discovered to speed things up. This is a work in progress. 1) Open up the ARMA 3 Launcher. 2) Click on Parameters 3) Check 'No Splash' and 'Skip Intro' (these settings just get rid of opening splash screens 4) Click on the ADVANCED tab 5) Click on [+] ADVANCED 6) Research the CPU in your computer. Is your CPU hyperthreading enabled? If it is hyperthreading enabled, you can effectively double your core count. My processor is a quad-core i5 3570k and is not hyperthreading enabled. Therefore, I checked the CPU count box and entered in 4. If my processor was hyperthreaded, I could've entered in 8 cores. *hint*, there are no hyperthreaded i5 cpus, but most i7 cpus are hyperthreaded. If your CPU is hyperthreaded, also check the 'Enable Hyper-Threading' box. 7) Check the Malloc box. Either use default or enter (without quotes) "tbb4malloc_bi". There is a drop down menu but some of us have noticed that it doesn't always work. Developers have stated that the only two memory allocation DLL's will either be 'Default' or 'tbb4malloc_bi'. Try them both and see what works best for you. 8) Check the MaxMem box. The developers have stated any number larger than 2047 will just fall back to 2047 as that is the hard coded maximum. Some have possibly noticed an FPS increase by adjusting this higher. I adjusted mine to half my total memory. 9) Check the MaxVRAM box. The launcher states a warning that anything larger than 2GB may cause issues. 2 GB = 2048 MB. Input your max Video Card memory here. Hopefully these settings will improve your FPS. Come into teamspeak and we will help you get set up.- Screenshots ARMA 3
That was some great action last night. Two full successful missions. We always need to have a Helo nearby though because that city southeast of Kavala didn't have any vehicles and it would've taken us all night to get back to base! I guess the locals get around by mule there. That firefight after we destroyed the Tigris and holed up inside the building next to the main road was intense!
