Crysis settings
You can config hack Crysis to make it run on supposedly "DX10 only" very high settings in XP. From the pepsi challenge tests it looks and runs basically the same. I ran the game entirely on very high in XP and it ran ok, but it tanked a bit in the alien spaceship. You have to make sure AA is off, that will kill your computer more than anything else.

Which games do you (still) Play
Our QW server tends to fill up pretty quickly with a jump start. Tonight we had a full server within I want to say a half hour of starting. We played fun games, so much fun that it took me back to some of the good times we had on our 2142 server. I know some of you guys don't like QW but I think the reward is well worth the initial learning curve. I think we can easily get a following on that side of the fence.
- Easy console access.

What killed it?
COD4 is alright, but there's not much teamwork which is annoying for me personally. Quake Wars in my opinion carries the 2142 teamwork torch and that's where you'll find me. I do miss 2142 but the game is pretty much broken and we've all mostly moved on. I hope BF3 brings us all back on the same page.

Vista Failure and PC Video Games
There will always be a place for PCs but unfortunately its doesn't make business sense make heavy hitting PC only games. The price of admission for a gamer is at least 1500 just to build a decent rig to run heavy games, and if you don't know how to build PCs you can go out and have someone else do it for you for twice as much money. Consoles are relatively cheap as we all know. As far as developers go- why develop for minority userbase on PC when you can build for console and then do a halfassed port to PC? Then there's the issue of piracy: http://www.neowin.net/news/gamers/08/01/21/pc-piracy-levels-are-astounding-says-cod4-dev I love PCs, mouse and keyboard are the only way to roll. Then you have above and beyond graphics and sound that beat the pants off consoles. I fear though after the relative flop of PC games like Crysis and rise of consoles we will be seeing less and less PC exclusives.

Crysis flops......
I completely agree, there's nothing more aggravating than trying to play a FPS on a console controller. Consoles are quick and easy and usually always work which is a big bonus. On the flip side I would challenge any console to run crysis, it would bring any of them to their knees. I guess it all depends on what its worth to you. The problem I see is that developers will be hesitant to develop for PC exclusively with such low turnout, and lately we are seeing a lot of big games developed for console and then released on PC. This severely handicaps the development of a game into something a console can handle i.e. smaller levels, lower viewing distances, less graphic quaility. The more heavy games like crysis that can show the true power of the PC the better, but its just a matter of getting the support and the money to develop them. I wonder what COD4 would be like if they didn't have to consider console limitations when they built that game.

Anyone Live in Chicago?
pssh I lived there for 6 years, and I never had a car there except for two weeks I came back to visit my girlfriend at the time. In that particular span I accrued two tickets for parking in wicker park without neighborhood permit. That was a hundred bucks right there which soon doubled to two hundred for not paying it. I never paid it, because I was broke and because the city is ridiculously corrupt. That was 4 years ago... maybe they'll track me down but I doubt it, and I don't particularly care if they do. Getting parking tickets in Chicago is a local past time, I know many people who just stack them up in the glove box for what I am sure comes out to thousands of dollars. The worst that can happen is to get a boot on your tire, but since its not your car anymore I wouldn't worry too much about it

Can I ask a favor...
Yeah, unfortunately I think the game design breeds more this kind of play more than team play. Quake wars, right now, is one game that continues in the BF theme of teamwork, albeit very different. The good thing about QW is that teamwork is required to get anything done. In COD4 theres nothing to prevent camping and in fact I would argue that hardcore mode encourages it.

Nissan GT-R
I like these sports cars but why do they have to be so small? I mean I'm 6'4 pushing 220 and its a pain to get into these things. I almost got a G35, its a sweet looking car but its so tiny on the inside, can't get it in good faith when I barely fit.

This is Not Good About Oil
I use upwards of 2000 gallons of gas on the longer flights, even still its probably better than if everyone in the back of the plane got in their hummers and drove from Boston to Memphis. We're all doomed when it comes to oil.

which Modes and Maps would you like to see
Of all the map modes I say HQ is my least favorite. The killcam is not that great, although I don't necessarily have a problem with it. If anything it would be nice to be able to select if you want to see your last death or not, but I doubt it works that way, either on or off I'm sure. I think the spawn time should be a little higher. While waiting for a spawn it makes much more sense to spectate your teammates rather than watching yourself die.
