It varies naturally. I recently played through Crysis and some of Bioshock because of all of the press. Online I reinstalled CS:source the other day because I was feeling nostalgic, so that and Company of Heroes are what I'm currently messing around with. I'll probably give COD4 a whirl next, but I'm really waiting for this game I saw at CES... Frontline or something. I need a new MMO shooter, like Battlefield. That's my favorite by far. Anywho. If there's something specific you want me to give you a spanking in, just let me know

Our system is next to be reviewed there in that same lab at THG. Few weeks probably. I'm actually doing a joint piece with Rob, who wrote that article, on the PC Gaming slump. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com

1) Their platform is 680i, not 780i - so they have no 45nm chips. ooooold. 2) We overclock to over 4ghz. 3) Their watercooling system is an off-the-shelf getup. Basically a closed loop system that they can just have any tech install like any other cooler. We have similar products we use for our lower-end stuff. The stuff is cheap and very easy to use. However, our Deluge is cooled by a whole custom system that we put together by hand. Uses all of the best water cooling equipment on the market, custom mounted so it's all internal to our chassis. It might look like it's pretty low-key because it all fits inside, but we've got 3 120mm radiators in there. When our Skulltrail system launches very soon, there will be *4*! Basically, there is a big difference here. 4) Check Alienware's resellerratings. rofl

Oh man, We've got a live one! I'm sorry, but I was specifically informed giving eval systems to people into wil-e-coyote was not allowed.

Oh geez - see you have to be a little more specific  That processor is a grand or more in retail. Plus, we overclock it to 4GHZ. 4GB is an option, certainly. The link you are all looking at what you originally saved the config at. I wouldn't get 2GB either. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com

Some people don't want sounds cards... Same deal with alot of things, like peripherals, most modding options, and most add-on cards in general. That's the point of a custom computer. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com

I'm not sure how it came up that there wasn't a sound card, but we put the Asus Xonar D2X in these. They are like $200. Sound card is up to you. You just have to pick it as an option. I don't have a sound card in my gaming machine. Personally, I like to keep things simple with a small rig, and the only add-on I have in there is a killernic and it's in a microATX form factor. Easy to carry around and less things to bother me with. I don't really need a sound card to use headphones, which is what I game with. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com

Bro. You have one Ultra and this has three? The cards and the waterblocks on them alone are $800. That's my COST dude. I mean, I am not going to argue that our computers cost more than the sum of their parts in retail. That's obvious and necessary. But if you actually did apples to apples with what you have and the ACTUAL cost (not your estimate  ), we'd be much closer to getting to reality. However, I do want to say that sometimes $3K is not even enough profit. Like I said before, you spend the money with us and you get what you pay for. Some people need that level of service, especially with a watercooled monstrosity like this. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com

Guys, a little harsh. Let me just explain briefly that it's not that "someone, somewhere" doesn't know how to build their own computer, it's that "the vast majority of people, everywhere" don't know how. Our customer base is full of hardware enthusiasts and gamers, just like yourselves, but they are people who can't or don't want to build some or all of their computers. Especially when they are going to be spending so much money, and getting into things like water cooling -- some people need the support. That's what we provide. We're business-minded, support-minded enthusiasts, just like yourselves. As far as the price, let me just tell you that it's expensive to do the background work in developing a computer system that has the least amount of problems (thus providing the best experience for our customers). Plus, we often are supporting the machines for up to 3 years. The higher-end the computer, the more expensive that becomes by leaps and bounds. So believe me, when you have a good product like we do, we base our prices on our support costs and what we need to do to provide the best product. People who want that type of product and service know it's worth it. I hope you guys liked the system other than that, though. It's pretty freaking awesome, IMO - SSD, 780i, tripleSLI, custom watercooled, overclocked, 45nm Intel... I mean, you guys all have rigs like this? It's sweet! I don't have one either, it's OK to admit it's awesome though. What really matters is whether you suck or not when you're gaming with it. Have a good one! I'll try to stop back to see how bad you guys felt like flaming me. -- Ed Borden Puget Systems Director of Business Development http://edborden.blogspot.com
