Probably the new connection. They still might be configuring things.
  5. Do this even though you are getting into the bios.......The easy thing to do is take out the Mobo battery. Put another in and see what happens then. Yes dying batteries do cause problems.Take the ram out and try a different slot. Or better yet try different ram. If no luck.......Take your Powersupply out and lay it on top of his case and just connect the mobo cable. That is it. See if it can boot/get to the bios. If yes then connect the HD. See if you can get to Windows.I have had a computer(2) not boot because of a seemingly good powersupply or a YES bad DVD/CD drive. Once you have eliminated the p/s, memory, mobo battery/cmos, hd's, cd roms, and floppies. There are only two things left. The mobo and processor. It is easy from this point on.If you have a similar processor install it.I have some 1 gig Durons laying around. 1 XP Palomino 1800 too.If not well all you need to do is buy a Mobo proc and memory. Think about it. It is money but if he has DDR then a Mobo and AMD proc is around $110 at Newegg. Even if he is Intel right now. A switch to AMD is easy and inexpensive.
  6. I would choose DC over BFV right now. I just played BFV for the first time and I was not Awwed by it.I WAS AWWED BY DC the first time I played.Hope this helps.

The Bullet will be back. Now if we could just get Killer Kitty kat out of retirement as well.
  8. BFV for Online.Farcry for regular gaming.
  9. Download this. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php Run it and let me know waht the CPU says. What the mobo says. Give me everything it says. You can write it to a text file.
  10. I liked what Donut did.
  11. I did mine on the Battle of Verdun. Bloodiest battle ever.
  12. Good sig.Hi and Welcome!
  13. That works for 98 98se and ME.You cannot reinstall overtop with XP.You repair with XP using the disc.He does not have the disc.I can send him one though.
  14. That is how Steam runs.It is purely Steam/Valve seeing what is on your computer and if it needs anything.
  15. Seems to have started with the latest Steam release and CD.Lets wait til Wednesday and see what happens. With our quick map download via Steam. It cannot take 15 minutes to download unless Gator turned it off.
  16. Call OSHA.Otherwise till the problem is fixed. Use Battlefield agility.
  17. One word.Possessed!!!
  18. Cool. The donations are a real plus. Thanks Gator and Carl and whoever else contributes funds for our clan to prosper.
  19. Play DC instead.
  20. So buggy. Not for ME. (LOL)I have no intention of going that route.I have 11 computers on my LAN all running ME and it is so much easier for gaming and modding at least for ME. (again lol)I know one day I will have to convert but the advantages of it are not there yet.The only bug I have a gripe about ME is a cdrom disc that does not get read by the cdrom drive properly(Bad burn etc etc) and it locks the system. I have people over and game just about every weekend. All the computers are at maximum overclock: system and videocards.I find ME very forgiving, fast and easy on the memory/system demands. How many computers running XP can run most of todays games on a GF3 64mb and 128megs of SDram system ram with a XP1800?Those are just some of the advantages of ME. I can go on but you get the point. What works for you is great. Me works for ME because it is stable and easy on your hard drive, memory and systems. Plus it has the option of restore points.
  21. Thanks Faktor.I am a ME user and just found out from my XP friend that this was the way to "repair" the problem. With ME you put a boot floppy and get to an "a" prompt then type in scanreg /restore pick a day to go back to and hope for the best.

    We will try something new.
  23. When did you get XP. I thought you still had XP.Well you can get to your restore points saved in your xp's registry. I am not sure how. I will find out.Mac
  24. He cannot get into safe mode no matter the choice.I do agree with the Kazaa. Some people have luck with it however I beleive you caught a nasty virus of some sort. Now if you have Norton Antivirus somewhat the same thing happened to my Moms computer. The new virus definitions/ autoupdate thingy for Norton system works caused a driver conflict and no matter what I could not get into any mode safe normal etc etc.I ended up using a floppy and accessing restore points saved in the registry and getting to an earlier point in time in safe mode. Uninstall Norton and then clean up then reinstalling Norton.Pain in the butt. You have windows 2000. I do not know if you can install over the top of it without loosing any information. My sugestions for future problem free computing is to never run p2p programs like kazaa. No matter how successful you may have been there are too many problems around the corner.
