Yes I too have read that CD is better, however it does not reveal cheaters, it simply acts to deter them, and with servers that make cd optional there is no point almost. Also I think FA is too forgiving, anyone who has seen the crap posts in the firearmsmod forums about people caught cheating and how they should be given another chance cause obviously they were just testing it can tell you that.

I do not know exactly how they determine if it is an aimbot, and for obvious reasons they would not say how it is calculated exactly, howeve I am looking into it on the UA website to determine what difference Firearms would make to the effectiveness of HLGuard, what I am pretty confident of is that HLGuard works well for CS.

Wait there Mac, did you actually check this, cause you need to understand the warnings system, which is why I've been posting this from teh United Admins site: The issue one our site has now seemed to change from questions about accuracy of HLG into an issue as to whether UA told the truth about the logs.

That's what so great about anime when compared to regular cartoons, it's adult oreinted (usually) for example you might watch some of Princess Monoke and think it's all disney like until this guys arms get taken off by an arrow (trust me the way it's done in teh movie it look like a pretty funny contrast). Hey I wasn't trying to mess him up, I'm very serious that is what I did. I was too lazy to check on it, maybe the switch was white I don't remember, I'm not gonna open my tower, but that is what I did. Runs at 2.0Ghz instead of 1.4Ghz, I was not trying to be malicious, besides you shouldn't have your comp on when you do this. When I have free time I'll take a look at my board and tell what switch it is.

As odd as this might sound there should be a little black switch on your motherboard which you'll need to flip. I had that problem, mine was going at 1.4Ghz and should have been 2.0, flipped the switch all taken care of. (don't ask specifics it's late and I don't recall off the top of my head)

You got me on the networking, I have a small lan and it is a pain in the ass. I have to use a serperate program cause filesharing is such a pain, I also have to be connected to the internet to handle DNS so the ME will see the XP during games and vis versa. Of course the best comp I ever had on the network was a little box running 98v1 and that could see everthing, really bizzarre.

ME!?! I feel for you, really I do. Poor thing, must be tough, I still run ME on my crap boxes, so buggy, oh so buggy. Suggest you go with XP, better than 2000 cause it loads faster and more like origanl windows, of course it is Fischer Price looking but you can change that, seriously I'd get it.

This might help:Make CDROM first Boot Device in your BIOS, save and exit. Place your Xp CD in the drive and reboot (you may need to press F8 or other key during boot), once at the setup screen make like you were doing a fresh install. When you have to select a partition/drive to install to, select the one Xp is ALREADY on, and you should see an option to repair.

My guess for the frequent virii on your comp would be that you fileshare, which is a major way to get them. Either that or you open email attachments blithely, or you visit seamy websites. Another way is to get worms from them exploiting your unpatched system or an exploit in your software, or you have a filesharing enabled with write ablilities. State cop is right about getting an av, and if you're cheap get avg which is free. Also get a firewall, that way you can monitor any programs you currently have installed, I'd suggest zone alarm or sygate personal firewall both of which are free. Another thing to consider is not logging in as root if you don't need to, cause if you get a virus as root it has root level access too. Most likely your problem comes from something you are doing (I'm guessing cause you didn't say what exactly you got). I've run systems with out av without getting them, and that's cause I dont go to where they are. Of course if you don't wanna ever risk infection I suggest you get a comp in a locked room with no modem or ethernet card or cd-rom drive, or usb, or floppy or zip drives and high level encrpytion for access. Also I've never heard of getting a virus in HL by playing online, of course that is not my expertise and I'm sure it's possible. It just seems unlikley, for a start they'd need your ip to connect to your machine (except for the exploit das pointed out). It would seem very unlikely to be the cause, but again you didn't state what the problem was exactly.

That is such a mischaracterization, just because a pistol may use fewer credits doesn't make it less affective at killing i.e. a sidearm. I personally pistol/knife nearly everytime I play and do fine. You must remember that accuracy will own on volume of fire everytime. One HS is worth a crap load more than a 30 round clip. That being said I'd take a pistol to compliment my regular gun because you are not always right next to the person when you run out of ammo. For example you empty your <insert whore gun> and they are too far to knife, it helps to have a "sidearm" then doesn't it.
