I know about using old versions to bypass the cap, which is why I have seen some websites (inc. some servers I go to) host the server/client download. Im using the latest 2.2.0 and I'm not doing anything wrong, in fact, If i did post my address on there, they'd probbaly ban me for spam / advertising. Why this has to do with hosting your own server I don't know but thanks for drilling what I knew already into my head.

1: Yes you can! If it's for private use, your still hosting your own server, for private use! It's not illegal. 2: That was me who said that, not Carl. 3: I have setup my own vent server. After reading up on the pro version, the way their doing it is quite quite ***, it used to be you'd pay flat rate for a full ver with no slot capping. They changed it now, again. Acutally, I shoudn't say them, it's only a one man task force on the dev team. To hell with this program, Teamspeak here I come!

Um? No need for name calling. That is what I was flipping about; yes we can. How does a billion other vent servers do it? How does TAC do it? I wonder, it's pefectly legal. The whole point of the limit is to encourage people to buy their software! It used to be a free program but just recently they changed that and made the licesning more confusing. Just becasue they limit the free ver to cap to 8 people, dosn't mean it's illegal, no idea where you came up with that... It didn't take me alot of time, about five minutes. That's not my website, it's my dev machine (my main computer) and I shared a whole drive on the web so it was bascially a thing of moving a text file to a diffrent drive and linking it for you.

Besides, the guy above you was asking if the vent server was going to be down (in case it was hosted on the same server as the gameservers).

@ Wheat, Eh, runing the server? No offense but you probbaly won't want to do that as it requries a few programs setup (Apache, PHP, MySQL in that order, working properly) Acutally, there is a 2-in-1 program out there for Apache/PHP, but this will confuse you greatly, trust me, it's pretty complicated. In short words, don't try to setup the server ! Just find a private server to connect to PM Psy4, if he's not an ass (which I'm sure he isn't) he could probbaly hook you up / help you out. I see where he's coming from and I agree. Quite frankly I thought you would all be mature enough about this, but it's apparent that you're not. Why should a normal word be blocked? Just read some replies... DO NOT use PHPNuke/Postnuke, it's becoming relic and unstable (bugs / security issues / optimization / ect ect) IMHO, it's starting to become garbage. Look for a better CMS (recommending e107) I run my site(s) on my own computer and the only thing I pay for is my name (r5a.org) but you can get somthing like yourname.host.com for free, so yeah, essentaly everything can be free Good luck!
