CS and TFC work for me but if I try and join a FA game, or start FA. That error screen is what I get

seams like a majority on Steam Powered forums who have problems use XP,

Funny, not everyone has the same computer. Same setup, as some people may already bet set and working fine. I'm trying to decide who I am starting to dislike more, you or Klif. As fun as it is to say Steam is fine and rub it in our faces. We are frustrated at Steam not you. Yet you have made several smart remarks to us. That is where I draw the line. If I ask for help, I want help; Not you.

TFC And Counter Strike work fine. But if I try Regular Half Life or FA I always get this, I tried reinstalling FA (with full 2.8) reinstalling steam etc logging out logging in error is still there "Error:SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not runningFunction trace:CFileSystem_Steam::Mount()"

Reinstalled Steam, Installed full 2.8 not the updated one, etc a few times. Same error.

nope sadly TA has converted to steam. You're gonna need steam.
