They've been down most of the day, I held off because when they are down Gator is usually doing work on them. If he's not I'd be happy to turn them back on.

It's a little late for a total conversion mod to just start being developed, they look like they want to accomplish a lot. With FA:S and and a 1.2 for INS coming soon I really don't see this mod going too far.

I'm not sure how many people here get the EA newsletters and promos through their e-mail, but the latest one had some patch info. Here's the little blurb about 2142:

They just announced that the demo is being delayed, they are trying to make sure it's the best that it can be. There all also some rumors that it will ship with the map editor so people can mess around with it. The demo will be released 3 weeks before the retail game ships.

I haven't touched this game in a long time, but they finally announced a beta 2 slated to release in October with a content lock on the 30th of september. May try it out again when this new release comes out.

I was amazed at the amount of people last night who bought the $135 edition. Person after person walked out with those big black boxes, the regular edition was enough for me.

Since this game came out I wanted a "DNR" feature..I can't tell you the number of times I've been revived in front of a tank/apc/walker or in front of an entire squad. People just want that 1 point so badly.

That's EA for ya, they decided to scrap EA Link and just open up an online store. If you log in there's no way to see your prior purchases? It sounds like your out of luck on this one.

Many of the reviews I've read stated it was very disappointing. But I can't try for myself because I'm not paying for a beta version of a game. The videos looked really good though.

Since this is a demo they shouldn't be using "keys" to activate it correct? That's usually what they only do for betas.
